    Love the pressure March 16, 2011

    Great compressor for the money. With the pressure that this pumps up to for most of my jobs the compressor does not kick in very much during use which keeps the garage very quiet. Having to tip the compressor back to get to the drain is a pain. It would be nice to have a dual outlet for running multiple tools which is why I have a splitter as my first attachment.

    The compressor seized on the first day. I ran the compressor through the break in cycle according to the manual. I then drained the tank to blow any moisture out the vent at the bottom, closed it back up, and let it fill. I ran some tools on it, and the third time the motor started after buying it, the compressor stage seized and the circuit breaker blew. Sears is giving me the option of exchanging it or waiting for two weeks to have someone come fix it on site. It weighs over 160 lbs, and has wheels on it, so it is just about the last thing anyone would ever want loose in the back of a vehicle, and opening the box according to the directions means cutting it in half, so there is no real box to return it in. Pathetic.

    Plus side, during the brief period in which it was actually working, it definitely ran quieter than the non-pro series compressor.

    I used to think that sears was re-branding harbor-freight type compressors but I was wrong, the chicom 21 gallon couldn't even get a lugnut off and sounded like a train wreck when it kicked on every 10 seconds. The Sears model had the same specs but was 162 lbs vs the 90 lbs chicom one. The compressor does appear to be made in china but to vastly superior standards. Runs my blasting cabinet with ease.

    I purchased this compressor after my 33 gal oil less model developed a leak that couldn't be repaired. I really liked the 33 gallon size, but it was extremely noisy. This compressor by comparison probably produces about 1/4 of the sound volume that the 33 gal oil less one made. The only part that's startlingly loud is the pressure release at the end of the fill cycle. But still nothing close to the old one. Air volume seems good. I get a lot of use before it cycles on to fill the tank. I'd actually prefer it kicked on sooner, but hasn't affected anything yet. I believe it's factory set to cut-in at about 120 and cut-out at 150. I'd like to see it cut in around 130 psi. Watching the gauge, it looks like it's cutting-in closer to 110, actually. I know you can change it, but don't want to void the warranty, as the set screws are coated to indicate "tampering". We'll see. Overall a major upgrade to the 33 gal oil less model.

    This is perfect for my needs. I bought it 3 months ago and have been using it in my home shop. I have a small metal working shop in my detached garage and after looking at many different compressors in the same price range. I settled on the Craftsman. It recovers very fast, is quiet, and the overall quality is excellant. The price is comparable to the higher end units that I researched. I am very pleased with it and would recommend this compressor to anyone.
