Powermate  26 Gallon Air Compressor, 1.5 hp, Vertical Tank, Oil Free

I purchased this compressor over the Craftsman because of the extra tools that it comes with. Looking back on it, I should have just bought the Craftsman and waited to talk the wife into letting me get the impact wrench and extra goodies later on. The first (and only time) that I used the compressor was filling up the air in my truck and car tires. On the last tire, I heard a loud pop from the compressor and noticed that I wasn't getting enough pressure to the hose to add air to the tire. Looking at the compressor, I noticed a hole (about 1 inch in diameter) in the top plastic piece that covers the motor. Looking on the ground 6 feet away, I saw the aluminum/cheap metal piece that the compressor shot out of the side. After taking the compressor back to Sears for repair, I was told to call back in a month as the compressor has to get shipped to Southern California for repairs. Lesson learned...BUY the CRAFTSMAN!!!

A good home unit for normal things like changing tires, small projects, and general mechanical issues. Fits well as a vertical unit in my garage. The two tools (impact and air wrench) are entry level so will upgrade those.

This unit began to leak near the regulator 4 days after we purchased it.  If you decide to buy a cheap, consumer-grade air compressor, make sure you get the protection plan!  We returned this unit despite having the protection plan because we lost faith in it.

Good smooth operation. Build pressure pretty quickly. Nice regulator.

both leaked  bothe had the same problems and the hose is the cheapest you can find the fittings are silver and not brass  they leak bad the air gun couldent  take out a bolt on a 4 wheeler  dont get this  its also slow to refill get so hot thought it was going to melt  somthing  be awear of this one folks

I bought this compressor about 4 months ago and am extremely pleased! We have worked it pretty well in automotive work, carpentry and general purpose. Does everything needed and performes above my expectations. Highly recommend!

I do recommend replacing the cheesy hose that comes with it and the connectors!

So far I have used this with a impact wrench, air ratchet and orbital sander.. seems to work pretty good. Takes awile to fill the tank but when full performs pretty well.. Only had this for a week but I think it was a good buy.

Bought this powermate 26 gallon yesterday while at lunch from work. Read the reviews and checked out some other compressors and for the price and tool's this came with it seemed like the best buy. The hose that comes with the package is good quality. As for the rest of the tools i could not tell if they were any good as the compressor did not work. i got home and opened package, was ready to start the compressor, switched to on and the motor ran for about 5 seconds and cut off. Waited about 10 minutes and hit the reset button and then hit the on switch again, it lasted for about five seconds and cut off again, however this time the motor began to smoke. Took the tank back 35 minutes away and bouth a craftsman 33 gallon and had to spend about 100.00 dollars extra to get the same tools and hose for the compressor. i would not recommend this product especially when the sales people said "ya we just got those and i didnt think they were any good." could have used that information sooner. Also had another sales person their who said " Usually that does not happen until about 6 months." That is why i bought the craftsman.

I purchased this compressor because my garage wasn't capable of a 220V compressor or a smaller oiled compressor (I have a voltage drop issue in my detached garage).

Knowing I was going to need an oiless compressor, I wanted something with a larger tank. I looked at the Craftsman 20gal vertical and the Powermate 26 gal Vertical. And aside from the location of the regulator and some minor plumbing. They use the same pump and motor.Don't let the difference in the names fool you. They have the same mechanical's pressurizing the tank.

Brought the unit home and unboxed it. Fit and finish on the unit is very good. No problems. For a compressor it's very good looking. I powered it on and It took about 10 min to go from a dead tank to 125 PSI. Not bad, but it is an oiless compressor filling a large tank afterall. Compressor had no leaks, which was a good sign.

Now on to the tool's. The air ratchet workeds as expected. No real issues. It's an air ratchet after all, so I wasn't expecting it to be a huge torque monster.The on/off flipper is kinda sticky. Doesn't really engage smoothly.

I then fired up the impact wrench and headed out to my car to see if I could break my lug's.

Nothing..so I turn up the torque setting on the gun to 4 and increased the output on the line to 100. Still no dice. I then looked at the instructions and saw that the max torque applied from the gun was only 230 ft pounds. That really isn't enough torque to break lug's. So basically the gun is really best suited for removing other fastener's like tie rod' end's or spindle nut's. Get a bigger gun with more torque for removing lug's.

Overall, a very nice package, the included tools are nice but could use some refinement.

Quality very good. This compressor is manufactured at the same factory that Craftsman compressors are made. Cheaper price because it does not say Craftsman on it. Warrantee is identical. Set the 26 gallon Craftsman compressor next to the Powermate, and they are identical, except for the brand stickers. I tested my compressor as soon as I got it home and it performs flawlessly. The included power tools work perfect, all fittings needed are included, and the 25 foot hose is good quality. Also included is the Teflon tape need for the adaptors. Compressor was easy to unpack, instructions were complete, which I read, but not need. The carton lifts from the top, so you do not have to man-handle the compressor out of the carton. Would I buy this compressor again? You bet !!!!!
