This compressor is loud as are most that don't require the user to add oil. After reading other reviews I wondered, are these folks performing the break-in as noted in the instructions? The break-in is critical to proper performance. Also, read the directions concerning the regulator. If it's turned too far down the amount of air to the user end will be minimal. Take 10 minutes to read the directions and you'll save yourself trouble down the road.

I got this size because it is small and fits nicely in the corner of the garage. Since I've had it, there are tools that I want to get for it but it wont run much of anything (i use it for mostly auto repair). Sure it'll run a brad nailer, or a 1/4" driver but that's it. Also it is UNGODLY LOUD! I cannot stress that enough. If you have any inclinations of getting impact drivers or other tools, save your money and get the next size or 2 up. On the plus side, I have not had any mechanical problems with it and it's 4 months old.

See all reviews for this productIts a solid tank that does not take up a lot of space since it is upright when garage space is at a premium and you need projects with enough air to get the job done. It is way noisy, but reliable. After not using it for a while the pump would not engage when I turned it on with the motor trying to start up. It fried some wiring in my garage since it drains some serious amperage and you have to make sure wiring is adequate to run this thing. We overcame the problem by completely draining the air all the way out of the tank and then trying to run the unit, when it was fine again and has run good since. Did I mention it is noisy? I do like how its portable too where I can wheel it to a car to run my air tools on it without a mile of hose connected.
a DIYerI have had this compressor a bit over 2 years. I used it several times a week for everything from nail guns to impact wrenches. As time went on, it took longer and longer to recharge. It also got louder, which is saying something because it was rediculously loud in the first place.
Last week it made an awful noise and started shooting sparks out of the motor. I took the motor/compressor assembly to a trusted motor shop and was told that I was much better off starting over... The motor could not be economically repaired and the pump piston was pretty well worn out as well.
I have since bought a different compressor (oil type). I ran a line to this tank as it was in perfect shape. Now I have a ton of volume, almost twice the cfm, half the recharge time even with the extra volume, and it is quiet enough to actually be inside the garage when it is running.
Learn from my mistake...Don't waste your time with an oiless compressor.
VERY LOUD CMPRESSOR,TAKES TO LONG TO FILL UP,GETS EMPTY SO FAST. I WISH,I COULD RETURN IT AND GET ONE THAT USES OIL BECAUSE THOSE ARE SO QUIET AND WORKS VERY GOOD........
Just got it 2 weeks ago, went for the 17 gal. and I followed the break-in instructions. So far it fills up fast. I use it for auto repairs and it works great. It is noisy, but so was my 10 year old one. I will tell you how its doing in a couple more months.
