Craftsman 16-gal 6.5-peak hp Wet/Dry Vac with Detachable 265 mph March 10, 2011
This is the best and most powerful shop vac I have ever used. The diffuser helps keep from blowing dust all over the area you are cleaning. So strong it is difficult to pull the hose off the carpet. Wheels are positioned so it does not tip over when pulled around by the hose. If you need an industrial shop vac, this is the one.

Used unit for dry vac purposes only/ job site clean up
I was looking for a solid Shop Vac that would not lose its power after the first week; as they tend to do. Regardless of the filter, how often I clean them or replace them, the initial power tends to erode and I am left with an overpriced piece of plastic.
None the less, this one came highly recommended via the web reviews. In light of these reviews, I am willing to entertain the idea of my purchase being a 'lemon'.
MY unit lost initial suction power after a week of use; use defined as 1 -2 hours a day. After a few weeks of casual use, an electrical burn began to emit, followed by smoke and high pitched whining. Needless to say, the unit passed away on a cold January afternoon.... Funeral services were held and words were spoken as it was gently placed into the on-site dumpster.
I take good care of my tools, clean them often and put them to work. Admittedly, I am also hard on these tools and many do not make the cut. This unit, in my opinion, is no different than any other comparable on the market for under $200.00. It might work just fine for little things around the house or as a stationary vac for saw dust and light debris.
In short, the demanding consumer should steer clear. Its just another funeral waiting to happen.

None so farCraftsman 16Gal Detachable Wet/Dry Vac Has the power and ease of use to handle the really tough and sloppy jobs. The only negative so far is an error of judgement on my part. I purchased the Wet/Dry Vac to help clean up a dusty, wet basement with mouse droppings everywhere. The vac handled the job no Problems what so ever. The problem that did arise is that Im a typical male and tend to buy the biggest and the best and found that for the vast majority of jobs around the house a smaller vac would of worked just as well. I forgott that even though it can hold more water and garbage I have to still empty it and with my disabilities that poses a problem. I highly reccomend this vac and will write a review later when I have used the blower.

None so farIt's everything anyone should expect and want from a Craftsman Vacuum of this HP and size. As far as the winers who say they have problems with the lid, they must be either rival salesmen of Craftsman or morons who just need something to cry about, because the weight of the engine alone is enough to keep the lid on securely, unless you're dragging the vacuum around like a blithering idiot. I have one suggestion for anyone buying this vacuum. If you're going to purchase this particular vacuum, then you're already spending a fair amount of cash for a powerful vac. If you've ever owned a Craftsman Vac then you already know that their most flawed item on these vacs is the 6 ft hose that they all come with. That has even gotten better over the years, the swivel is a lot better than it used to be. So as I was saying, if you're going to buy such a powerful vac, do yourself a huge favor and get the 10 ft accessory hose ( the higher quality grey one) that comes with or without certain accessories. It's the 1 & 7/8 in. diameter hose. Both hose kits come with enough adapters to fit the 6 and 10 ft. hoses together to total 16 feet of hose. Great for cleaning the car as well as the house or garage. With 16 feet of hose, you're not constantly dragging this thing all over the place. As far as my home goes, that hose pretty much saves me from having to move the whole unit around much at all. They also sell a real nice fitting that serves as a great handle for the whole shabang, which goes for around $10 bucks. If you're going to buy this vac, it's worth it all day to drop a few more bucks on a couple of their other accessories to make this much more enjoyable and easier to use. It's definately not a small vac compared to the last 8 gal Craftsman vac I had, it takes up a fair amount of space, but fortunately this one has a lot of different places to fit all your accessories. There's around 10 seperate spaces to use, and with a little bit of imagination, you should be able to get every accessory you own on this puppy. Almost done here, 2 more nice features - a 20 ft., very thick (quality) electrical cord with a much better wrapping system than previous models, and laslty the fact that it's got a motor that comes right off the top off the entire unit with great ease to convert into an extremely powerful leaf blower makes this one of my favorite and more well-thought out purchases I've made in quite some time now, and I think it is more than worth what I paid for it. I bought it near Christmas time a got an excellent deal, but I would honestly still consider it a good deal even if I paid full price for it. Can you tell I'm pleased with this purchase .... ?

I wish the lid lock was more secure,Doesn't have a lifetime warrantyOutstanding suction, the 6.5 hp motor really delivers. Haven't used the blower yet but I'm sure it will be very good. The silencer keeps the noise unbelievably low for a shop vac with a motor like this one. The lid latches are a little flimsy, and it doesn't seem like the lid is all that snug, but when you turn the vacumn on it basically clamps the lid down. Also I wish it came with a brush head, they are useful for cleaning out the car. But, when it's all said and done, Craftsman did a fantastic job with this one. Great suction, usable storage for the accessories, and good caster wheels, not to mention a very clever way to give you a leaf blower as well. Nice job guys!
