Craftsman 17175 6 am Corded Reciprocating Saw December 18, 2010
Bought it for my husband and he loves it. We never buy any other brand of tools. Craftsman is guaranteed and we never have any problems taking anything back. The tools are guaranteed for life. All you have to do is take the broken tool in and they replace it with no questions asked. Where can you find that type of no hassle guarantee. My husband has been buying craftsman tools for over 40 years and he won't buy any other brand.

Craftsman 6 amp reciprocating saw with LED light December 09, 2011
Bought this thing because it was a bargain. Works fine for wood and would probably work fine on metal too if it weren't for the worthless tool less blade clamp system. The slightest kick back on any kind of metal will take your blade from you and leave it stuck in the metal. This happened on sheet metal and decently thick pipe. If you are going to cut metal, stick to a model with an allen wrench chuck, because this thing will **** you off. Does have decent power for the amps, will bog down a bit when cutting through 8 inch thick or so wood and thicker metals, but still keeps on truckin. Didn't see much use in the light, it's cute, but rather pointless. It is light and easy to use with the blade facing in either direction so you can position yourself in a good way for those tough to get to cuts. Good for light to medium use on wood, worthless for metal cutting.

Blade Retention Issues February 03, 2012

blade comes out during useThe saw is a great price, from a good manufacturer. I already returned one because the Blade Rentetion system is apparently not designed to have force applied (like that of actually cutting something) because with 2 saws now, my blade has popped out multiple times when working on metal or wood... I actually needed this to install new Subframe Bushings on my car, and it refuses to cut through the RUBBER let alone the metal.
Aside from that, it looks nice, seems to have a fair amount of power and is lightweight, plus the LEDs come in handier than you might think, but as it stands, that blade retention system simply needs to be changed, because it looses all it's good points if it cannot cut anything substantial.
Also, the Sears Employee that helped me, and exchanged the first one, were spectacular. Very helpful and courteous.
