    Great value! December 19, 2007

I have become a big fan of craftsman tools, especially the higher end models. I knew what I wanted and looked everywhere for a jig saw with all these features and couldnt find one until I found this at sears. I bought this saw on sale and wow what a value for the price. Other brands were much more expensive to get all these features. Very well built, easy to use, and performs well. I couldnt be happier with my purchase.

    Design flaws February 12, 2009

My 25 year old $20 B&D saber saw died and I replaced it with this Craftsman. I use a saber saw occasionally. This saw is smoother than my old one and cuts much straighter. The two big problems: 1. The base plate is solid across the front of the blade, so you can only see 1/2" or so of your line ahead of the blade. I will cut a slot in the plate, but really this is a stupid design and would have been easily avoided. Makes you wonder who approves such things. 2. Air (from the motor?) is exhausted so as to blow the sawdust away from the cut. This is nice, but the downside is it blows dust in your eyes. There is a plastic shield, but it quickly gets coated with dust so it's useless. A minor issue: The blade is set back from the front housing so you have to crane your neck a bit to see where you are cutting. I still have and regularly use a craftsman belt sander my wife bought for our wedding 31 years ago. She got it off the reconditioned table at the local Sears store. I'm a believer in Craftsman. This saw could have have been a much better value at no cost to Sears. Thanks, John

Craftsman Orbital Jig Saw is a great beginner tool July 06, 2010
By AED of Oak Park, IL
    Pros:
    Light,Powerful,Easy to use,nice built-in extras

This is my first electric jigsaw and I have been very happy with it so far. I've only done a couple of small projects with it, but have been really enjoying using it. It's so easy to control, it definitely has enough power to cut through anything I've used it on, it's light and it has some nice built-in features. Very easy to swap blades, I like the shopvac attachment to keep the mess down. I would definitely buy this saw again.

Simple to Use and Works Great! June 11, 2010
By Fishscout of Saint James, NY

Needed a decent jig saw that didn't break the bank.  Purchased the Craftsman 4.8 amp and used it on 1/2" pressboard and 1/2" plywood.  Good power as it cut through nicely without having to force it. Lighting can be challenging at times but the worklight feature lets you get a good look to be sure your blade is heading in the right direction.  That of course means accurate cuts.  Changing the blade is simple too- just be sure you purchase the correct type (T-shank).  Overall, I am very pleased with the performance and recommend this tool for any DIY'er.

Good on Swan Stone May 24, 2010
By JustDonM of Oak Park, IL

I used the jig saw on swan stone on a tub surround. It was a good utility tool to make the openings neccessary for the plumbing and the windows.
