    Craftsman 17438 Nextec 12-volt Lithium-Ion Cordless Multi-Tool April 25, 2011

    I bought this tool for my husband as a gift. It was a fantastic gift. He informed me that he doesn't know what he had done without it. He gave me an example of how he used it. He was working at a house and had to work under an overhang. He needed to cut off nails on the bottom of the overhang because they were in his way for what he was working on. His materials kept hitting the nails. He was unable to reach the nails so he got out his handy Multi-Tool and was able to reach enough to cut off the nails. He highly recommends this tool and I highly recommend it as a gift for the man who is tough to buy for.

    The Nextec multi-tool is not what it seems March 31, 2011

    I bought this for my husband for Christmas. He has had problems with it since he opened it. He no longer uses it. The blades don't cut well at all. The worst complaint is that the plastic clip broke and the battery won't stay in any longer. When you try to use it, the battery falls out. This was the one item that he wanted for Christmas and what a let down. He purchased another brand from a local hardware store and is much happier with his new item. He does not want to purchase any of the Nextec products.

    I love the tool , but can only use it for a short period of time when it automatically shuts off. This is very annoying when work needs to be done, and i cant get a answer on why it keeps shutting down. Sad because i bought it at the high end price and not worth the low end price they have marked it down to. If the shut down has been resolved, then yes i would buy another one today.

    Like the different things that this tool can do, but I had problems with it just after having used it a couple of weeks. When I need to change out the multi-attachments sometimes the screw that holds the attachments on to the power handle does not screw in correctly and I have to back it off and re-apply to make it work. Other than that this tool can handle the jobs that it is given.

    Overall, I am pleased with this tool. Changing attachments is easy. Use of this tool saves valuable time and effort. Attachment of various tools can be in positions other than forward facing (I.e. right angle). I do have a concern though. My battery after receiving a full charge does not seem to hold a charge for an extended period. The other issue I see for a user is the fact it comes with only 1 battery. I tried to purchase another battery, but they are on back order. The question is, is this because of short battery life or just popularity? PROS: Good Tool for multiple types of jobs. Carrying case CONS: Short battery life. 1 battery included, need 2

    I have found many uses for my Multio-Tool as it has become an essential piece in my tool box. It really comes in handy if you have to cut out a section of wood to repair instead of replacing the whole board. It is also an excellent sanding tool. I would highly recommend this tool and Sears has the lowest priced attachments for a Multi-Tool.
