I have never owned one of these so can't compare to any others. I farm and have used it many times and has held up well and done the job it is supposed to do.

Battery Load Tester Does The Job
I bought this to determine whether my automobile batteries need to be replaced. It told me that my battery was weak, which correlates to having to jumpstart my vehicle after a long trip. It also checks the charging system which it told me was OK. I plan on replacing my battery soon.
I would recommend this product to a friend.

Easy to read and simple to use.
As a farmer I have several batteries. This works great on both my tractor and automotive batteries. Is easy to hold with the narrow grip and easy to read in most light. Would definately recommend.

If only the Auto Shop would have used this great tool?
This is a great little tool for any one, even a professional auto mechanic, who has a need to do a real test on a car battery. I now own one and it is great!
Why: I once took my car to an Auto Shop to have a failing car battery tested while it was still under warranty. They performed the test using a battery charger, which took over an hour, just to see if it could hold a charge, they used this method to see if the battery was any good or not. They said it was good - I found out later that you need to use a Load Tester which is standard and not a Battery Charger, for a Real Battery Test. They could have used this great little tool and saved me a lot of aggravation and my romantic ideas about car repair. We, the sales person manager in charge and my self, got into a real engagement over weather the battery was any good or not at the time. Telling them that my mechanic had tested the battery and said that it wasn’t any good did no good at all. I guess I could’ve stretch the truth but I doubt if even that would’ve worked. I found out later that battery couldn’t get the required load - power needed from the battery for the starter and other things to function, therefore no good!
The battery needs to be capable of accommodating and holding a charge, and distribute a load fully on demand. A good battery is one that can accept and hold a charge, and deliver the rated number of amps on demand. A bad battery is one that won't accept a charge or can't supply its normal dosage of amps due to cell damage or deterioration. Good batteries can be recharged and returned to service but bad batteries need to be replaced.
I'm going to AutoZone to get a free battery test printout and hopefully get the Auto Shop to listen to reason and give me a new battery.
Oh by the way, the Auto Shop was Sears!

His product is well designed and works as discribed. I own other Actron products and they produce quality products. You only need to use this once to acurately trouble shoot a problem to recover the cost of the unit. I can't believe it took me this long to add it to my tool collection.
