Good saw at a good price March 30, 2011
I upgraded from a Craftsman 10" compound miter to this slider which allows me to cut wider boards and wood flooring planks. It has a good sturdy base and solid construction you expect from Craftsman. The laser runs off the saw's AC power which means no dead batteries if I accidentally leave it on. The included 60-tooth blade is nice for cutting a variety of materials.
It does have a few drawbacks, however. For some reason there is no safety switch of any kind on this model. More than once, while lining up a cut, have I accidentally puled the trigger.
I like that this saw is a single bevel, so setting it back to "0" is a snap. However the laser is fixed to only the left side of the blade, which means you have "eyeball" your cut, or flip you piece over/around and remeasure.
The sliding function seems to stick just a little, but that may go away with more use.
Bottom line: This is a good saw at a good price.

10 in sliding compound miter saw performs ok for price January 25, 2011
Needed a saw for constant small jobs around the 125 year old Brownstone we live in. It performs well within my needs. Not useful for a pro or someone doing consistent fine work. It is not recommended for confined areas without a much improved dust collection system. The system that comes with it looks great but not effective. Probably need to connect a vacuum to make it work well. Fix the dust collection and it would be a real nice saw.

Dust collection could be better,wish it had dual laserI was leary about the 10" saw. After using it for my trim. I found it works better than my dewalt miter i replaced with this saw. I was cutting 2x10 on angle with miter and they are perfect. It works so smooth and is light weight to move around. Sears is awesome to deal with as well.. I had broken the handle and took it back to get repaired and they just replaced it with a new one in the box. It was half the money and twice the saw.. **** I would buy another if this one ever wears out. Great value. thanks Sears!!

I don't need a super high end saw, yet, but I assume someday I'll upgrade. Until then, this one seems to be working well for me. The only downside that I've experienced is the dust flying all over the place. While some does end up in the dust collection bag, most of it flys about. I just vacuum it up with my shop vac and call it good, though I'm sure that with some creativity it could be easily remedied by the common man. The slide works well and I'm happy that I can cut wider boards. All in all I like this saw.
