Good saw for the money February 11, 2009
I read the reviews before buying this but still thought it would be a good saw for the money and I was right. I used it to build a bookcase and it turned out pretty good. The adjustable arm is not accurate at all but I made sure to measure at the front, back and next to the blade before locking it down and making each cut and that works. I also bought a better blade instead of using the one that is included and that made a difference.

As with most any tool, it really depends on what your use is. For this saw, if your goal is precision and/or durability, this is not the table saw for you. Don't expect consistent precision to be better than about +- 1/16" If you want low cost and/or light weight for occasional use, then this might be the saw for you. I say "might" because even on that level, its quality is marginal -- the sort of thing where I'm waiting for something to break the next time I use it. On the positive side though, the size and weight is fantastic for sitting it on a shelf when not in use, and then pulling it down and setting it on a workbench (or the ground) to use.

fence tends to be crookedThis saw is perfect for what I bought it for - light use and ripping a few trim boards.. So far it has performed as expected. One thing I like about it is that its light enough to where I can easily carry it outside and cut when I need it, rather than get the garage full of dust.

The blade guard moves out of placeI just recently purchased this table saw and is the first one I have ever owned. I own many craftsman products and love them all so the decision was easy when the time came that I needed a table saw. I thought that for the price it would not perform at a higher level then it did. I installed laminate and needed this saw for many cuts needed to get close enough to the walls and to make cuts for the rounded corners that my house has. I was completely satisfied with this product and would recommend it to any home owner with small to medium sized jobs around the house.
If I were to have to ask for something be built better on it, I would have to say the blade guard as it will move from side to side because of the vibration however you can just move it back into place. For the price I dont consider this a down fall.
