A very good saw at a great price!
This is really a very good saw. I have read all the reviews and; Yes it takes a while to assemble. And yes you will most likely need to true it to square. Plan on spending the better part of an afternoon and evening to get everything set up and adjusted. Start to finish took me about 5 hours (with a couple of coffee breaks worked in). Say about 4 hours if you go at it non-stop. Take your time with the adjustments and do them right. Tolerances have to be within the width of the kerf over the full carriage travel or the blade will bind. Once properly set up, the saw works very well. (On my saw the "Control-Cut" motor burned out after just a few cuts, but that does not prevent operating the saw in a conventional mode. Which I did for a week until Sears could get out to repair it.) The control cut actually is a very nice feature. This was my first experience with it. I found out that I liked it. (The Control-Cut unit has worked flawlessly following the repair.) I can ease the blade into the work, then just keep the trigger depressed and the blade advances automatically through the piece. The Control-Cut feature restrains the carriage and keeps the saw from jumping through the work. With a 40 tooth trim blade the cut is always very smooth. You don't have to use the Control-Cut feature but I think you will like it. (Works great on dadoes!) Once set up, the saw is fairly rigid. While moving it I did warp the fiberboard table a bit and had to readjust it after moving. This is not a portable device. Set it up and use it carefully and it will remain true. I have been using the saw daily now for a month and it is still true. 45's are spot on, (assuming you have adjusted true to 90), making miter cuts a piece of cake. In fact, the large table makes it handy to do all your measuring and layout right at the blade. (My Delta power miter saw has sat unused since I got this saw up and running.) I can do everything on the radial arm saw that I could on my power miter saw. (Of course the miter saw is portable and this radial arm saw really isn't.) The saw repeats fairly well. I have been ripping 3/4 in cabinet grade plywood down for built in cabinets and trim, and the measurements have all been very close. The laser track device is mounted on the arbor in place of the outboard washer. It works very well, making a bright sharp laser line on the outboard side of the kerf. I have found that if I place my cut line just to the inside edge of the laser I will get a perfect cut every time. And since the laser is mounted on the arbor with the blade, there are no adjustments to make on it and it cannot be knocked out of alignment from the blade. Nice feature. I think the best thing about a radial arm saw is using it to cut dadoes. Cabinet faces require a lot of dado cuts and it's a piece of cake on a radial arm saw. It just doesn't get any easier. This saw has a fairly deep arbor and the motor is strong enough to cut 3/4 in dadoes in hardwood. Setting the control cut at the slowest advance rate will ensure smooth splinter free dado cuts every time without bogging the motor. The handgrip is comfortable. The control-cut trigger pull is stiff but not unreasonable. Carriage travel is smooth. The motor is quiet far a 10in. saw, and while not as powerful as more expensive saws, it will do the job without complaint. For the money it would be hard to beat the Sears Craftsman radial arm saw. $750 gets you a saw that will satisfy most do-it-yourselfers and even many professionals. It does require a bit of set up, and initial adjustments can be tedious due to the absence of fine-adjustment screws. (All adjustments are made by loosening the yokes and clamps and slipping the parts to square them up. It works but takes longer to get everything just right. Anyway, you won't find screw adjusters on saws less than $1600 or so.) If you are setting up a home shop on a budget I suggest you get the Sears Craftsman 10in radial arm saw and the 10 in table saw. You can get both for less than the cost of a Delta radial arm saw. While the Delta is more rigid and certainly a quality tool, I can't say it cuts $1000 better than the Sears Craftsman. Save your money and get the Craftsman. Take your time setting it up and I believe it will serve you well.

Be very afraid!
Radial arm saws are not known for their accuracy and repeatability. I had an old Craftsman 10" saw handed down to me by my father that wasn't too bad in that area. The main problem was the motor - not enough power for ripping dimensional lumber. A few years ago, I bought this saw new. I had high hopes for the "Laser-guided" cutting and the rest of the bells and whistles. I wish I had my old saw back, that's for sure! The laser is useless. You have to guestimate the distance from the laser line to the actual cut line. Because it's mounted to the arbor, there's no adjustment possible. The arm's mounting hardware is flimsy and you can easily knock it off 3 degrees by just bumping it left or right. The same is true if you lift the arm from the front of the saw. If you tighten the arm's clamping mechanism to improve the situation, won't be able to raise the arm.. or, like me, end up having to replace the flimsy nylon gear that operates the arm height adjustment. I am not aware of any other radial arm saws at this price point and now I know why. My recommendation is get a good compound miter saw and a good table saw unless you're willing to spend the bucks for a "real" radial arm saw!

Saws Perfect!

I have had this saw for a few years about 4 works good you just have to spend time setting it up and make sure you tighten the alien's on the lift tight as you fell they won't strip out the threads then it works perfect. Its got plenty of power. but keep in mind BLADE is the factor in this, use the right blade for the job your doing. I even cut non Ferris metal with mine. Rips cross cut angled beveled hard woods, hold a line and will cut straight even after changing setups. Make sure you square is good the product setup guide shows you how to do this, I had an old square that was real bad I didn't know just how bad until I did this test. Needless to say in the trash it went. This is what everyone used before we had miter saws, and they worked then and do today. This is also safer to use for crosscut then a table saw.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

worst shop saw I have ever owned or used

This is by far the worst shop saw I have ever owned or used. In 1978, I purchased a Craftsman 10? Radial Arm Saw and used it for 32 yrs. It was a very good saw, accurate and always held its alignments, this new saw (Model 22010), will not. The alignment must be readjusted every time the saw arm is bumped, moved or the cut angle changed. Sears sent a tech, under warranty, to repair the saw but the parts he needed are no longer available and no longer stocked by Sears. This saw has been misrepresented by Sears Craftsman ? The owner?s manual said I would get years of service out of this saw, it was deficient out of the box and couldn't make a year. It came with a one year repair warranty that Sears cannot honor because critical repair parts are no longer available for my less than a year old saw. Sears says no refund and no repair but I can trade for an identical saw with the same inherent problems. If you want a quality shop saw to build cabinets and/or furniture, look at somthing else.

Isn't the HP mislabeled?

A tool that draws 13A at 110V can only be a 1.9 HP tool [much like my 25-yr old Craftsman table saw].

I like it.

Not sure it should be called Professional, but it is a good saw. It does require a bit of tweaking but it isn't too difficult and the instructions are pretty clear. It isn't Industrial grade but the price doesn't reflect that either. I have used it for home-type projects and it works fine for me.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

GREAT SAW

Love this saw, very easy to change the saws angle for cutting miters. And I really love the cutting control so you can only pull the saw out so fast and that speed is adjustable and the saw will not come at you with this control unit.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Craftsman RSA #315220100. This saw is poorly made

I have had this saw since new and its been a major disappointment. But the biggest problem is that the play between the column and column support is about 1/2 - 3/4  inch. This play is impossible to tighten up, as soon as the play is partially removed it binds the cloumn. The fact is thier is so much play that it cant be brought to an acceptable tolerance. The laser sight quit after about 2 months. The support base for the saw is really made cheaply it flexs excessively. The best advise I could offer about this saw is to save your money and buy either a new Delta rs830 or a good used one for around $300-400 or a used Dewalt

The King Kong of Saws

I have not used it yet but spent 12 hours putting it together and making adjustments. I know it will do it all with lumber and the better fine tuned the adjustments, the better the saw will cut lumber. This saw will make a big job a lot smaller in a hurry. Right now it's in my living room waiting for the rainy season to end. Some reviews say there is nothing in the instructions about squaring the table but there is. The saw is squared to the table rather than table to saw. I think the control cut will have to be removed since it's a big problem with ripping. I don't like the 2 cables sticking out and I don't like the power swithches. The finger switch is for the control cut and it would be better to have the main power on that switch. As it is with a seperate main power switch, it would be hard to turn this saw off if you had to in a hurry. Seems like they created more of a safety hazard by putting control cut on the saw. I also wish the saw could be taken apart in sections so it would be easier to move it. I tried to lift the saw out of the column and it wouldn't come out so that means I'll have to take part of the stand apart to move it. It's best to do each step of the alignment at least 3 times to get it fine tuned. The saw will do the job but it could be better. I removed the blade guards since they can be as much of a hazard as a safety feature. The rip anti kickback guide is cheap and won't align very good. There is no problem with the stand and if all the bolts are tightened, it's sturdy. I suggest sawing off the the sharp corners of the table and rounding them so you don't bump into them. The laser is not much use for anything. It's better to use a pencil mark. If you adjust the saw to cut square, it will do it without a laser. Not much use for the rip guage or any of the measurement stuff on the saw. Nobody would use them anyway. I use a tape measure to get it exact and place the blade according to the mark on the wood or against the tape measure. This and many other Craftsman tools could easily be made in the USA but they are not.
