    Great tool November 10, 2010

    Received the tool in 4 days. The packing was good and delivery was great. Instructions and assembly were very good. The unit was missing the feed handles, so I called the 800 number and the missing parts were delivered 2 days later. The price was excellent and have been 5 stars if all the parts had been included.

    Good drill press Bad chuck December 24, 2010

    My ratings 3.5 1/2 hp 8.6 amps R.P.M. 1725 Poly V belts Belt tension sliding motor 12 speed 300~400~450~600~650~700~1100~1600~1700~1900~2600~3100~~ Key--less chuck 5/8 " Quill Dia. 1 7/8 Column Dia. 2 7/8 Quill travel 4 " Table size 12" x 12" Table movement rack & pinion Depth stop locking nuts throat 7 1/2 pros: So far I am happy with this press. The quill is solid No play. There is a slot in the quill for fast and easy removal or the arbor and chuck. Table movement works very smooth. Hood opens up easy and, also easy to set belts. The light is ok but I can see it might be in the way from time to time. The laser is a joke works well until you lower the table or raise it. It only takes about 30 seconds to adjust it if you needed it. I will add that is was well packaged... Cons: Key~~less chuck is junk...it is very sloppy it does not tighten up enough for Forster bits. Even had some slip-age with some twist bits. Called customer support and I have a keyed chuck hoping it's a Jacobs chuck coming should solve my chuck issue. Table is the smallest I've seen on a floor model press. Which is not a big issue since I plan to make a table for it. This press has moderate vibration no matter what speed you have it set for. Over all I rate this to be above average.~~~~~~ 3.5 Only difference between this press and Ridgid 15" press smaller table size and this press has some vibration.     Cons:
    chuck is poor quality,lousy customer srvice,poor quality,not what you pay for

    idle pulley machined too small so the pulley is lopsided. sears would only give me the option to return to store even though i drove an hour to get it no option to get it repaired i would just have to try my luck with another

    Pros:
    Tight quill

    This drill press is a great adition to my shop and I really like it, but it still has its cons like everything does.

    Pros: It has a serpentine multi-rib belt which is way better than the competitions V-belt, plenty of power, nice paint and finish, the lasers work great, the motor is smooth and quiet, it has a key that you can remove to disable the machine, the table can be tilted and it has a degree sticker to show you the # of degrees you tilted it, the handles can be placed on either side, the chuck is really easy to use and you don't have to worry about losing any key for it, and the belt tension is very easy to adjust

    Cons: The bolt that clamps the table to the main pipe is riveted together so it can swing, but the rivet is loose. The table crank handle is plastic along with the belt cover. The light it comes with has a springy cord type holder where you are supposed to be able to place it where you need it, but it droops down becaused it cannot support itself properly. But it still works fine as long as you put the light above where you actually need it so it will droop down where you want the light. Also, the light cord is seperate from the drill press motor cord, making it a hassle to have two electric plug receptacles to power the machine. Then, it has a weak plastic screw thing to hold the quill that doesn't feel like it will last very long or hold the quill very tight. Finally, the "hood" or belt cover has a cheesy latch and it took me a long time to finally get it adjusted right so it would close and it still does not close all of the way.

    By the way, the lasers take a long time to adjust, but if you take your time and read the instructions, you will really enjoy them in the end.
