I bought the saw and used it to cut aluminum. On the third use it turned off and would not start again. The metal was thin and easy to cut so there was not a heavy load on the saw.It worked great up until it shut off. The one year warranty was past, so I am sol on the saw. I took it to my local sears, it was a waste of time, all they did was give me an 800 number.

I used this to cut steel siding on my building one weekend I didn't get done but the next weekend it never worked again.

Many reviews derate this saw because of overheating . It is probably because the saw was run beyond the recommended duty cycle. Which is "30 minutes on,10 minutes off under normal load" or let it cool to ambient (normal) air temprature. See page 12 in the manual. I do not recommend using this saw for prolonged or industrial cutting. It is for the occasional home user. I use it to cut up pallets for firewood, easily cutting stray nails that would make a normal saw dull or dangerous. When I feel too much heat, I just do something else such as stacking or moving the cut pieces to the storage area so no time is lost. Another feature is the large 6-1/8" blade that other twin cut saws don't have.

Excelent product for making short cuts. Not so good for making long straight cuts.

The saw performed well for a total of 30 minutes. After that the blades jammed. Sears was no help in supporting this tool. I am done with Craftsman and Sears.

Product poorly designed and of poor craftsmanship. The stickers, case castings, plastics are not well made, and as a new item it came in a broken case which was cheaply made.

Used this saw to cut truck toolbox in half , worked great . the next time I used it was going to cut 3 sheets of metal roofing . on the third sheet brushes in motor went up in smoke . Used this tool a total of 1/2 hour and it burned up. Don"t waste your money on this tool.

I bought this to cut up my home heating oil tank. These tanks are made from fairly thick steel. This tool cut through the steel, seams, and welds like a standard circular saw cuts through plywood. If you have anything metal to cut... this is the tool to do it.

I did not have an electric hand saw or table saw so I got this. I could cut the twin wall plastic panels, 2x4s, rebar, bolts, etc. It throws some debris so I wore eye protection and also full face protection. It makes a rough cut and requires a back and forth to cut a 2x4. It is a heavy tool and a little awkward to hold the body. It could be more ergonomic. I think anyone who builds anything would have this come in handy. I read about some people burning up the motor. The first thing I did was loosen the bolt that held the blades in place and then tightened again according to the instructions on changing the blade. I wonder if from the factory this bolt is too tight on some and when run the motor burns up. I had no problems so either this works or maybe only coincidence. It was easy to do so I recommend it.

I?ve used Craftsman woodworking, automotive, and construction tools almost exclusively for the last 30 years and have never been disappointed until now. I purchased the Twin Cutter saw over a year ago. The first time I used the saw was to plunge cut a square hole in a piece of plywood, I was very impressed with the speed, accuracy, and cleanliness of the cut. The second and last time I used the saw was to cut some corrugated sheet metal (tin for a pole barn). I ran the saw no more than 30 seconds at a time and no more than 20 minutes total over 4 weekends. Without any previous warnings, the blades (but not the motor) suddenly stopped turning. I disassembled the saw and determined that the gear box was broken. To add insult to injury, the replacement price with shipping would have been more than what you can find the saw on sale for. I now own a dual blade Ridgid saw.
