The 25928 Lithium-Ion Battery and Multi-Chemistry Starter Kit intensify all your C3 Tools. The 19.2-Volt Lithium-Ion Battery included in the kit is compatible with all C3 tools. The Multi-Chemistry Charger will charge all C3 19.2-volt Ni-Cd or Lithium-Ion battery packs.
The 19.2-volt Battery works with over 30 Craftsman® C3™ cordless power Tools. The Lithium-Ion technology delivers better performance and longer run time in a light weight design compared to Ni-Cd counter parts. The battery has a push button fuel gauge on front. When pressed the light will glow from green to yellow to red indicating the energy level.
The Multi-Chemistry Charger will charge 14.4-Volt to 19.2-Volt Craftsman® Batteries in 1-hour or less. This charger will charge both Ni-Cd and Lithium-Ion chemistry battery packs. Charger technology helps protect the battery cells from damage. On-board diagnostic LED lights indicate the charge status of battery pack.

19.2-Volt Lithium-Ion Battery Pack with Charger Works great! May 02, 2011
The Craftsman C3 Lithium-Ion Battery Pack with Multi-Chemistry Charger performs exactly as I hoped it would. The Lithium-Ion battery pack is lighter than the old Ni-Cad batteries, lasts significantly longer and has more power. I had 4 of the Ni-Cads and on a large job (even when they were new) they were barely able to keep me working. With the Lithium-Ion batteries and the Multi-Chemistry charger 2 batteries are plenty. The Multi-Chemistry charger even resurrected 2 of my old batteries that the old charger indicated were defective! This definitely falls in to the "Why did I wait so long?" category!

A piece of crap April 25, 2011
I purchased the drill/impact wrench kit that includes two lithium batteries and charger. The larger battery would not keep a charge overnight, even if it was not used. I returned the kit to store. They opened a new box to check the battery and the new drill fell apart. They gave me another new kit. I charged the two batteries over night to make sure they were fully charged. A few days later, the new larger battery was dead, but the smaller battery still had a full charge.

made in chinaI'm a weekend DIYer so keep that in mind as you read my review. With all due respect to the negative reviews I haven't had a bit of trouble with my C3 19.2v Li batts. They last a long time and give full power right up to the end. I have stored them (unused) for several weeks and they are always ready for work when I need them. Charge time is quick too. I use them in the C3 1/2" drill/driver and the C3 5-1/2" circ saw. The circ saw drains the batt rather quickly but that is more a function of the tool than the batt.

Expensive,why pay for a charger you don't needI just bought the 17310 kit for $100 (regularly $120) which includes the charger, battery plus the drill. Why on earth would anyone buy just the charger and battery when you can also get the drill for the same price?
Apparently, the Li-ion C3 battery is no longer available without the charger (a search for the battery results in a message that informs you of this. A call to the sales support number confirmed it).
I can't comment yet on the performance of the battery or drill. **************** gave it a high rating, which is why I bought it. But you can get a higher rated Hitachi drill that comes with 2 Li-ion batteries for $140. The C3 replacement battery (when it WAS available) was $60. At that point the Hitachi becomes the better deal.
Sears is closing stores. No wonder why, since product decisions like this can drive customers away.
