Excellent midrange electric impact wrench, great for auto work! October 01, 2010

This is a great mid level impact wrench for the garage mechanic.

This unit will provide up to 250 ft*lbs of torque, which is enough to handle most standard tasks such as lug nuts, brake caliper bolts, strut mount bolts, door frame bolts, etc...

I purchased this impact wrench after seeing how amazingly useful an impact wrench can be for dealing with rusted and or stubborn nuts and bolts, and I do NOT regret this purchase.

I was torn between this model, and the cordless model.  The cordless model has an LED light which comes on when you depress the trigger, and its realy a shame that this nice feature did NOT make its way onto the corded version I am reviewing.

However, despite that drawback, I got the corded model because I hate relying on battery packs and chargers to get a job done.  The other point of contrast is that the battery powered model is smaller, and may be easier to get into cramped spaces.

If you are planning to do a lot of automotive work in or around your home/garage, definitely this model is worth owning.  If you are doing autoX or track days, and you suspect you may need an impact wrench when you don't know if you will have a wall outlet handy, then the cordless model may be a better choice.

This unit is build very solid, and with care and proper use, it should last a very very long time.

Nice up to 70 ft. lbs. March 04, 2008

Product was nice but did not produce the torque needed to efficiently break a 110 ft. lb. lug nut. Took about 8 seconds to break a lug loose at the above specification. I did not think this tool had the sufficient usable torque for anything over 70 ft. lbs. I am not sure what the 250 ft. lbs. max torque measures but I do not think it was close to this rating. Note: I was using new sockets which were the correct size and there was no problems with the electric current to the tool.

Works well for home auto repair December 28, 2011

    Pros:
Easy switching for forward vs reverse,Very solid, great build quality

I bought this for home tire changes and it works very well. Once in a great while an overzealous garage will seriously overtorque lug nuts, and for those cases it's good to have a long breaker bar on hand, rather than let the torque wrench bang away at it (the impact wrench will eventually get it loose even in those cases).  It's a well balanced tool so it feels relatively light in hand.  LED pilot light indicates when the unit is plugged in, which is helpful with long cord runs.

    Not impressed December 28, 2011

    Pros:
Easy switching for forward vs reverse
    Cons:
    Unit is large, cumbersome,no power

Easy to operate with the very well thought out double action trigger, but it's bulky and doesn't quite do what it needs to do given the 250lb torque specs.

I tried it on a 3000lb double axle trailer, a 3/4 ton truck, a Honda minivan and a 1962 Volkswagen Beetle with dismal results on all but the VW.

As a matter of fact I ended up switching to a breaker bar and ratchet. I was dissapointed, and wanted to return it but got it so dirty with grease and such I ended up keeping it for the smaller tasks.

    Cons:
    Unit is large, cumbersome

I tried it to loose a bolt which I manually torqued @94 ftlb, however, it failed.
