Craftsman Router Table with Folding Legs and 24 x 14 in. Laminated MDF Work Surface

Wobbly junk, plenty of better tables available for this price January 24, 2012

I bought the Bosch 1617EVSPK router set for Christmas and wanted a router table.  Nice tables start at $250 + so I wasn't willing to spend that now.  I plan on building a custom table in a few years so was looking for a cheap table to get my by.  I bought this Craftsman table because it was on sale (about $47 before tax).  I set it up and was immediately disappionted.  The biggest problem is how much the table wobbles.  Yes it has metal legs but their connection to the actually table is very flimsy.  The collapsable leg feature ruins it.  I expect that mounting it to a plywood base would reduce the wobble but it still wouldn't be enough.  The table is also pretty small.  The MDF is small so I expect it to bend under the weight of the router over time.  Also, the screw that allow the fence to slide tear into the table.  I planned on fixing that by adding some washers and am really disappointed that Craftsman didn't include such washers (extra 3 cents maybe)

I returned this table and bought a Skil RAS450 (on sale $44 on ******).  The table is twice as big, made of aluminum, and doesn't wobble.  I'm very pleased with it.  It is still by no means a $150, $250, or $500 table, but for the price you get quite a bang for your buck.

I am a novice and purchasing this Craftsman router table it has made available to myself the opportunities in learning the arts of wood working. In today's market I and many others are on a budget, but we don't have to give up our dream to learn how to use these special wood working tools, because Craftsman also thinks about us who are just starting out in our field of interest. This Craftsman router table allow me to pursue my hobby in wood working with hopes of improving and affording better upgrades of Craftsman tools.

I want to thank Craftsman for making tools affordable for us beginners. May we soon improve and upgrade.

Don't lose the lockout key!!!!!!!! September 19, 2010

I thought this would be a good table for me as I learn my way around routing.  Didn't expect rock solid perfection, it's stable enough and I got it mounted to a board so I can take it off the work bench when I'm not using it. BUT somehow after the first few passes the bright orange lockout key fell out and before it hit the ground it sprouted legs and RAN OFF.  Actually I think my dog got it and either ate it or buried it because it is nowhere to be found.  And after scouring the internet for an hour I can't even figure out how to order a replacement.  Went to the local Sears and the guy was clueless, even though I only bought it 3 weeks ago.  He said he never heard of such a thing.....................GRRRRRRRRRRRRR look at the picture above... small square orange part... without it the switch on the table is completely useless. Last Craftsman tool I buy.  A month or so ago I tried to have an older router repaired and was told to buy a new one it's cheaper than repair. Thanks Sears!  Old tools are unrepairable and New router tables are useless within the first 15 minutes.
