Excellent sharpener for standard bits...
Well build for many years for use. I've sharpened many titanium, HSS and cobalt bits on this guy and it works great every time. There is a slight learning curve but the included DVD makes it really easy to learn. Spend a little more for the next model up if you want to sharpen split point and bits over 1/2". Have one set of drill bit for many years with this Drill Dr! Sears has the best price as well from what I have found. Great tool for the dough.

What kind of stuff are you drilling?
This is a good universal drill sharpener for soft stuff like wood and the occasional sheetmetal project. If you are looking into doing harder/tougher metals like stainless or steel, I would recommend either the 500 or the 750. Not only do they offer the greater versatility of a shallower point more suited to harder to drill metals, but they also offer the split point option available on the XP and up models that is required when using tougher bits than the 'regular' carbon steel ones such as the Cobalt steel type. It avoids having the bit wobble and making the hole where you don't want it and helps these bits cut a little bit easier and faster. I urge buyers to consider future interests and projects or you may find that you 'wasted' your money lacking necessary features and end up disappointed. Nothing worse than false economy.

When I bought this I was buying drills everytime I turned around. This is a nice sharpener but it has its pros & cons. It is simple to use however if you don't use even pressure and get the alignment correct, you might as well go buy another drill bit. It took several tries for me to get it but it does sharpen the bit good. I do not recomment that you sharpen bits under 1/4 inch.

The Drill Doctor drill sharpener was an excellent choice
This purchase was off the top of my head, while trying to find a gift for my son. Little did I know how much he needed this. As I was giving it to him I told him he could swap it for something else that he needed if it was not appropriate. He immediately told me he was keeping it. With so many bits lying around and so many that had been discarded this Drill Doctor was the perfect solution. Would save on drill bit purchases and time. And he knew since it was purchased at Sears they would stand behind their product.

cute little toy thats easy to keep sharp bits
lil thing is easy to use correctly on one side of the coin, and on the other side just as easy to use wrong... trick of the tool is just like using a SAW, any saw chain to scroll, let the tool do the work... nice easy and steady light pressure as you turn the bit on the stone...

This Drill Shapener works great!
I use this sharpener at work, home, shop, everywhere. It sharpens your bits with ease. Just read the directions and with a slight twist of the wrist, you'll have those drill bit in mint condition. My only fault with this machine is that it is pretty loud. But, what can you expect from such a device. I'll never have to buy another drill bit again.
