Genie  ChainMax 1000 3/4 HP Chain Drive Garage Door Opener

This is, by far, the best opener that I have ever had. It so quiet! I can't even hear it in the house. It was very easy to install. ?t has been working great for about a year.

So far, the opener has worked fine. It moves a bit slowly and takes a second or two to respond, but we have had no problems.

It's Sunday morning, I'm retired and I'm bored to tears. My new Genie garage door opener arrived Friday but my handyman is not available until the end of the week. I've never installed a garage door opener but how hard can it be, I can read directions. I read the directions (one large sheet), gathered the tools I'd need and jumped in. Five hours later, working alone with a few basic tools, it was up and running. Directions were clearly written and easy to follow step by step. Installation was painless, programming the remotes was a breeze and everything works great. I've never owned a Genie before but I'm very pleased with this product. It has a soft start motor and runs very quietly. Saved $150 in installation cost and now I'm a garage door installation PRO! Highly recommended.

I have installed many different kind of openers and this by far was the easiest. Craftsman was the worst. The instructions were easy to follow and the opener is really quiet. Adjustment were really easy. Had a Chamberlain before and it only lasted 2 years and not covered under warranty. Seems to be quality built.

a fine product from the best "Genie". building the rail sucked but well worth the on sale price of $183. programing was a snap,including the remotes. highly recommend this opener to all !!! very quiet and powerful too.it does help that I am a pro installer of Genie opoeners every day so this purchase was a no brainer. great price Sears.

Spent the better part of my labor day installing this piece of trash.  Follows the instructions to a "t".  Simpe enough to install.  Go to fire it the first time and set the limits.  Nothing.  Troublshooting guid says "component failure, call Genie".  But unfortunately Genie doesnt work on Labor Day.  I should have listened to the other poor reviews and stayed away.  If you are reading this, i suggest you should do what i didnt: Do not buy this junk.  Beware!

I bought 2 of these, have installed one. Not the easiest install I expect, but that is probably because not much in my garage would be considered standard. After about 10 open/close cycles, it started opening/closing very quietly and smoothly. It's like everything stretched out a bit to fit. And this is with a 35 year old garage door setup. Should really be quiet once I lube it up a bit. 

All garage door openers have a personality and can be hard to install properly. These units are a little easier than some I have installed. I purchased and installed two units and they work very well. I would recommend the Genie company as a source for all your garage door needs. However, I only have experience with the 1000, 3/4 HP, Model #3022 TK.

After the profesional installer finished installing everything, he was unable to program or get the opener to work.  He had to spend over 45 minutes on hold with Genie, only to finally be told that they would send out a new board.  I am still waiting for the board, and do not know what I am supposed to do with it once I do get it.  Is Genie going to pay for someone to come out and finish the installation?  It was no fault of the installer, and his shop is a 2 hour drive from my location.  I have had no contact from Genie to know what I am to do.  Meanwhile, I have a garage door opener that does not work and is already in place.

I bought three of these openers, and they were pretty easy to assemble, install and program. Having part information printed on the plastic baggies was a big help. The instructions are decent. Operation is fairly quiet (for a chain drive) and and reasonably fast. I also used extension kits because I was using them with 8 foot doors. That was fairly painless as well.
