Grip Tite  7 pc. Super Sockets Rounded Bolt Remover, Metric

I bought this when I saw it on the rack as an "extra" help if my bolt out sockets did not work on an upcoming truck project. I had a 3/8 bolt that was rusted and rounded off just from rust. The bolt out socket would not grab it and the 3/8 socket in this set would not grab it either. I think these sockets have some good applications but they work better on regular bolts not damaged ones. I'll keep them as I may need them some day but they don't look all that strong.

I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado, and I was changing head gaskets.  I accidentally stripped the very last exhaust manifold bolt on the drivers side, which is hard to get to.  I went up to Sears the other day and picked up this set of grip tite sockets. I used the socket on a 3/8th inch craftmans rachet, and not only was it small enough to fit into the small space, but I was able to put enormous amounts of pressure on my cheater pipe in order to break the bolt loose.  This tool saved me time and money, but the head of the bolt was only slightly stripped.  I beleive that this tool is a great Idea, and a good tool to have on any job.

I bought this product not knowing if I'd ever use it. It was on clearance so I decided to buy it. It saved me major time removing struts from a vehicle because of the gripping socket. Had I not used it I would have to remove the cowl from the vehicle just to remove the strut mounts.

The form is good, but the "advanced camming technology? is functionally flawed since it is held in place by plastic. The practical outcome of actually using these "Super Sockets" is a broken socket. It is not for applications that require much, if any torque. I was down one socket in about 10 minutes. If these sockets are indeed super then rounded bolts are their kryptonite.

I would recommend this tool to anyone. If you do any mechanic work on anything it is a must that you have this tool in your arsonal. I do transmission work and this is a must have. If you ever brake bolts of sockets BUY IT>

I was using this so i could take of a striped lug nut I had on my wheel my friend recommended me this tool but it did not work. During the process I lost one of the bolts and now I cant return this junk blew $25.

I didn't have any luck with a stripped head in a hard to reach place on a wind turbine. I do agree that this would hold good bolt heads but stripped heads in a tough place is a no go. I did get my bolt out but I used the Irwin 394002 5-Piece 5/16-Inch to 3/4-Inch and 8-Millimeter to 19-Millimeter Fastener Removal Set to great success. Just to note the ratchet that came with this set is very nice for the cost and worth the small difference between the two Grip-Tite kits.

My wife bought a used BMW X5 that came with a stripped oil drain plug.  These bolt removers were critical in helping turn out the badly stripped plug, and saved us a small fortune in repair costs.  They were worth every penny I spent on them.

I was working on my 99 pick up truck, both the truck and I are from Michigan. Up there they use salt on the roads in the winter, imagine what that does to your vehicle. Well I had to replace the hub assembly but the bolt heads rounded off on me, so I went to Sears and bought this set. The frist set within 5 minutes the whole outer casing just about shattered, first trip to Sears for a replacement. Second set I was able to get one bot off before one of the teeth snapped clean off, second trip to Sears. I ended up getting the Craftsman 10 piece low profile set and it worked great. May work well for light use/ aplications, but for stuborn bolts not so well. Not to mention it's only a 3/8"s drive, If were 1/2" drive and more durable I think it would work allot better.

I have an old truck and i was doing header exhaust work which is always a pain, but these sockets grabed the rusted rounded bolt and took it right out i was impressed i would recomend these for and mechanic.
