Craftsman Microtork Torque Wrench - Old Reliable March 23, 2011

I've had this item for close to 20 years. I'm not a professional mechanic, but almost anytime I'm working on my car I get this out. Not only is it accurate, but you may get some unpleasant surprises about what mechanics are doing to your car. After twisting off a lug nut trying to remove it, I used this wrench and discovered they were all over tightened to over 150 ft. lbs. Most manuals specify you only tighten them to around 100 ft. lbs. I proceeded to take the car back to where I had gotten the tires, and they replaced the hub. It paid for itself with that visit.

I'd give this zero stars if possible. April 25, 2011

I bought this a couple of years ago and put it in my tool chest for 'when the time comes.' Well, that time came and I needed to tighten some head bolts on an engine. When I opened the original case it was filled with thick oil that had leaked out of the wrench. I put a socket on the head and tried to turn the ratchet head to tighten the bolts and the plastic wheel (don't know what else to call it) just spun around and around. The ratcheting head was broken and I had never even used the wrench. Looked at the manual and saw it only came with a year warranty so I was s.o.l. Don't do what I did - CHECK YOUR PURCHASE WHEN YOU GET HOME. I trusted Craftsman quality yada yada yada but was mistaken.

broke the first time I used it April 30, 2012

Should rename their product line to CRAPman tools. Got a new torque wrench for my birthday. The ratchet head broke the first time I used it. When I asked for a new torque wrench I should have specified NO CRAFTSMAN!!!. The replacement guarantee(which all manufacturers have anyway) is useless when the nearest sears store is 1.5 hours away. Do not waste your money on this poorly made tool. You will be disappointed.

Bought this tool a few years back used it about 20 times since then went to use it the other day and it woundn;t lock on the pounds setting.Returned to sears only to find out they won't replace it after 60 days best thing to do is through it away and buy a new one they say it costs 60 to repair and 80 for a new one. real shame of it is I always say buy craftsman they stand buy their tools will not here me say that again. Would not reccomend this tool to anyone who is not going to use it everyday so you will be able to return it in the first 60 days. Thanks craftsman

Great CraftsmanTorque Wrench for the price April 09, 2012
    via Community Review
    By DuceNova of Endicott, NY

My original ?click? torque wrench that I bought back in 1969 broke on me (the ratchet head part stripped out and parts for it were NLA). I watched the Sunday Sears sale paper for a similar torque wrench to go on sale. I love this new one almost as much as the old one and in some ways more and some ways a little less. I love the new narrower case as the old one took up too much drawer space in my tool box. I dislike the plastic adjustment handle in that it is difficult to see if the locking mechanism is on or off. Not a big deal but a pain to discern if it is locked or not. All in all, the new torque wrench performs just as good as the old one. Accurate, easy to use, and at a great price.
