    Did just what they were expected to do. June 28, 2010

    My son's car had a flat and he couldn't find the locking lug tool. He also rounded one of the other lugs with the tire iron (which also broke). After towing it home, I went to Sears and bought this set. The sockets performed great! I was able to take off the locking lug and the rounded lug with ease. These tools saved a LOT of hassle and were well worth the money.

    Don't bother. June 10, 2010

    Recently bought a car with locking lug nuts but the car didn't come with the key.  I bought a set of these sockets to get the locks of and it was a waste of time and money.  I've got lots of experience refurbishing vehicles but these were one of the worst tools I've purchased.  I followed the instructions and all they did was spin on the locks.  After about an hour of work the tools was worthless.  It eventually ground down the grooves in the tool and were useless. 

    For a simplier fix I just got a deepwell socket that is slightly smaller than the lock and hammered it on then used a breaker bar (long rachet) to remove the lock.  I was able to get all four locks off in about 30 minutes. 

    This socket set might work better on a lug nut but they were worthless on a locking lug.  I returned the set and got my money back.  While I was in the store I saw another set on their clearance rack.  I kept the deepwell.  I'll use it again on another wheel or other project.

    I purchased these for my husband last Christmas. He loves them. You can't beat Craftsman quality and guarantee on tools!

    dont waste your money on this item. the metal is not very good quality and on the first use the socket stripped out. there was more metal from the socket on the lug nut than metal from the lug nut on the socket. if you need to get a stripped lug nut off, or one you lost the key for like i did, then the BEST way to do this is take a 12pt socket that is almost large enough to fit over the lug and tap it on with a hammer. once its on use a breaker bar or impact to remove the lug nut. I spent over an hour with this product and could not even get 1 lug nut removed, out of the 4 i needed to remove. i went and got a 13/16 12pt deep well socket and tapped it on the lug. Just out of curiosity i even used a torque wrench to remove the lug, wanted to see if it was rusted on. not to my surprise it only took about 110ft lbs to remove, not much at all. had all 4 lugs removed in 30 mins, hardest part was tapping the lug out of the socket after it was removed from the car. spend your money on a socket set, and not this junk. if you need one of these buy a different brand, ive heard irwin/hansen makes a good quality lug remover.

    This craftsman 3pc flip socket set saved the day!!!!

    My wife came home from work 1 day and says, "I think my brakes are bad". After taking it for a ride I realized she completely ignored the squeeking and waited to tell me when they were GRINDING! LOL! Needless to say I ran out at 7pm and got new pads and rotors, get home, jack the car up, take out the old four way with the wheel lock key, and CRAAAAACK! Mother loving, son of a gun, couch sitting, piece of shnitzel! Thats exactly how it came out... I swear! lol. The wheel lock key broke.

    Next up, the old hammer a smaller socket on.... nope, just broke the outter ring on the lock and just turned and turned forever. Sooooooo, now what? Run to Sears, 10 minutes before closing time, just to see what my options are, and I just happen to spot this "stripped lug" socket set! Wow, genius! Get it home and (even though the directions say not to) gave it a few "love taps" while turning it on the lock, EUREKA! It's off. Run around the car and in under 10 minutes I had the other 3 wheel locks off....And then... run around the car for 10 minutes claiming personal inteligence and taking all the credit from Craftsman! lol.

    Anyways, I highly recommend just having this set in the garage, or, even in the car, because there would be nothing worse than getting a flat somewhere and have your wheel lock key snap.

    Note: When I said I gave the socket a few love taps, that was literally! The directions say not to hit it with a hammer but those locks were some high grade iron but DO NOT sit there and take your broken wheel lock/stripped lug anger out the socket because you will put yourself in a worse position.

    worked great!!! on the first wheel lock. after that it just turned with out gripping like the first time. inside grooves felt smooth after one try. guess they are made in china now .
