I've had this jack and stands set for a few years now. It doesn't perform like a racing jack, but it doesn't cost the money or take the space that a racing jack does either. It definitely does take some effort to lift heavier cars, but it doesn't seem like the jack is actually straining; it just doesn't offer that much mechanical advantage. I think it is a good tradeoff between mechanical advantage, lifting speed, and size. I am surprised at a few of the other reviews on here, which state difficulties lifting Accords or Camrys. I have used it on several different cars, including a Saturn SL1, Mercury Mystique, and Ford Thunderbird with no problems lifting and with all the lifting height I need to get under the car comfortably. Perhaps there are a few lemons out there? It does seem likely that it would not be suited to trucks. If you have a vehicle with a lot of ground clearance you should consider a different product. The stands are excellent, although again, best suited to cars rather than trucks.

From the day I purchased this jack, it has leaked jack oil. I carry it inside the side door of a work van. Just stored on the step inside, the jack oil ran out on the ledge and out the door. In use it constantly needs refilling. Maybe I just got a lemon.

a DIYerI've had this set for a few years. I use it for changing oil and rotating my tires. It doesn't lift very high, and I have to use some pieces of wood to get the height I need, or lift the front, then the back, then the front some more to get all four wheels off the ground. I went to use it today and it spewed oil out around the plunger. I pulled the plunger out and was able to pry out the o-ring. Use something plastic if you can so you don't scratch the metal groove. There was also a clear plastic washer above the o-ring. I took it out, but it was a pain, and I'm pretty sure you don't have to. Leave it in. I was careful taking the o-ring out, thinking that I would just have to clean it, but it didn't really matter since the o-ring was pretty much trashed. I don't know what the exact size is, but it measures close to a dash number 111, which is 3/32" wide, 7/16" ID, and 5/8" OD. That's what I used, and it seems to work. Put some hydraulic oil on it, snap it back in, and you should be good to go.
a DIYerSears 2 1/5 ton hydrolic jack. bought this set with jack stands. had it several years and was very happy with it. One warning though mine tipped over when it was not in use the cotter pin fell out of the handle and the handle pulled out and I lost the seal or O ring that goes on the plunger of the pump handle. No one carries parts to fix these so mine still looks brand new and is totally usless

This is a great jack for performing oil changes, tire rotations, brake jobs, etc. on your own vehicles and/or you have limited space and want a floor jack. I have a Mazda 6 and a Saturn SL1 and lifts both with little problem and enough height to perform all the basic tasks I've needed to do. It does require more effort due to its size, but it doesn't creak or strain to do so. I've used larger jacks that make it easier to lift because of a longer jack arm, but the entire jack is much heavier and takes up more space, which is fine if you have it and plan on using the jack weekly or daily. I bought this set 5 years ago during a sale ($29.99) and its still going strong. Its an incredible value at that price, and if your usage is like mine, you can't go wrong with this set.
