    Craftsman aluminum racing floor jack for your quick lifting need November 24, 2009

    I bought this Craftsman aluminum racing floor jack about 7 yrs ago. The original floor jack was replaced by an identical one at the store, even though it was over the 1 yr warranty. I did not know the Craftsman lifetime warranty was only limited to hand tools and not floor jacks, but the salesperson was very understanding and did not point out that I was wrong. That is Sears customer service at its best. 

    As far as the leaking seals, my replaced racing floor jack did leak out the original oil. I set the floor jack aside and bought a 3 ton non racing floor jack from Sears. I then went to Sears years later and bought hydraulic fluid and filled the racing jack to the top. I inspected for any major oil leak on the floor, saw none, next day test lifted the front of my automobile, release the filler top for any excess fluid, and all is well. 

    I know everyone is talking about the seals being from China and not having replacement seals in the US, but you could take the floor jack to a shop and ask the mechanic to match the seals to US seals, but as far as my needs go, my floor jack is fine for the moment. There are no reasons to not use the Craftsman floor jack stands.

    I used longer than I should have... April 06, 2011

    I was reading reviews and found early similarities. I just had my universal joint break (like others) and my $15K race almost went down hard. Luckily I had a good aim with the jack stands and the worst thing that happened was the bumper flashing in front of my face. I also wanted to note the stability was poor on this. Even if I had the wheels pointed out to the side as to give it the widest stance, the jack would start to tip off one of the back wheels. This was all on a solid foundation in the garage too.

    All in all, I probably used mine too long because if there is only a 1 year warranty, I am hosed. Among the other problems (leaking, stability, etc), the universal joint was the last straw.

    This thing lifts cars and light trucks, what more can I say, it works. The problem is durability. The universal will break. The cylinder will leak oil all over your garage floor. If you expect that from a jack at this price point go ahead and get it. Sears should be embarrassed for selling this junker.

    bought this jack for car repair that i need to do at home, went to kmart and found this jack at a very good price. The jack lifted the car with no problems and was very easy to use, the handle was very well built too , unlike those cheap jacks you find , i highly recommend

    I bought this jack 7-8 years ago - still looks the same. I realize that's a while, but considering I only use this 2-3 times per year, I'm very disappointed to find this year it no longer lifts. That doesn't meet my expectation of longevity for a Craftsman product.

    Cylindar Has leaked since new when lifting 1/2 of 3000 pound vehicle. I waited too long to try so couldn't return it. Definately would not purchase again.
