Let me save you some time, just buy the Genie Garage Door Opener April 07, 2011
I called and visited several places before I went to Sears and looked at the Genie 1/2 hp DirectLift Screw Drive Remote Control Garage Door Opener. It had more accessories than any other door I checked out and a Lifetime Warranty. It is made by one of the best Garage Door Manufacturers in the business and sold by America's Department Store - Sears. It is a quality product and the price was unbelievable, installation is easy. This is a second garage door opener for my other door; I hope it last as long as the other one that I bought at Sears over 25 years ago, and it's still going strong!

Problems w/ Genie October 20, 2010
I had a problem after a while after installing my Genie garage door opener, and when I tried to call Genie for help, they were of NO help whatsoever! It was an extremely frustrating experience. It's suppposed to be a lifetime warranty on the product but if you don't keep your reciept for a lifetime then you're screwed! No reciept = no help, no care or concerns for you. If you have a reciept and send it to them I guess they may help-I don't know-but I don't trust them. And they supposedly help w/ troublshooting over the phone-but don't do it! They will get you stuck in a rut and leave you with no choice but to call someone else to fix it b/c they dont help w/ certain problems on the garage. They have ppl they recommend but when I called them, they did not know what they were doing and said they didn't "have the tools" to fix it. So take caution in buying from Genie because they dont have good customer service at all.

Decent opener and accessories November 14, 2011

Pros:
Great features, keypad and remotes,Good BuyI installed the opener in a few hours by myself. As I was installing, I realized I needed to go out and purchase the extension rail as the standard size was too small for my garage. Do your self a favor and measure out what your rail size will need to be beforehand and purchase at the store with the unit (will save you another trip to the store).
The unit is a bit noisy but does the job well. This could very well be my existing door/track that needs some lubricating, but noticed the screw is fairly squeeky after owning it for a few years.
Overall, decent opener and was pretty easy to install myself.

Sears installersWas looking for a unit to replace my old chain drive unit. Was going to purchase a belt drive but the salesperson suggested the screw drive as a better alternative since the belt would need to be replaced at some point. He also highly recommended the genie unit with its superior lifetime motor warranty. Price was very good. I had Sears install the unit and haul away the old unit. They use a subcontractor and the installation service could have been more punctual and professional but its installed now and works excellent. It works Great.

We had it professionally installed - less than a 1/2 hour - by a local company. The only negative is that the sun/heat will begin to compromise the plastic keypad after some time, but it still operates fine ....
