    Works great! May 05, 2011

    My 13 year old Craftsman door opener finalled died. (Probably due to dust.) I decided to replace it with this because it was as close to the old model as possible. My thinking was that I could just replace the units and be done. No, it wasn't that easy. There have been several design changes that forced me to replace the whole system. I am glad I did. This is better built and much quieter. The new system is much easier to program and the motion sensor on the door switch is a fantastic edition. Now I don't have to complain about the lights being left on in the garage.

    Opener seems great, not sure about installation March 21, 2011

    I had a ten year old chain drive, so I expected this new chain drive to be very quiet and much faster. It is possible the opener was not installed correctly, or that there is something unique to my door that I am unaware of, but the opener is about half as fast as my old chain drive. I have to wait in the garage in my car longer for it to open, and wait at the end of my driveway after I back out for it to finish closing. I am having service check to see if this is a product or installation problem.

    As to it being quiet, it definitely is quieter inside the house (I know because my cat does not seem to know I am coming now), however, does not seem all that quieter inside the garage.

    For those in their garages quite often, the motion-detecting light is a good idea, however, I found it distracting as I could never tell if the light was ever turning off. It is very sensitive! So, I don't use that feature. It is nice to have the option of turning it on from the entry to the house. The lights are not as bright as my old chain drive. Hopefully it allows for me to add brighter bulbs. Also, the installer has the antenna wire hanging down under the unit instead of above.

    Lastly, the opener seems to "clutch up" as soon as the button is pressed (kind of like the first time your opener starts working again after having been worked on), pauses, then starts opening. I hope this is a function of error in installation and not the opener itself. When I called my installer to ask about it, he gave me no advice about how it should or shouldn't operate, but just said, if you're unhappy with my installation, call Sears. For Sears to look at it, I have to sit in my house all Saturday afternoon until the second the tech person is on his/her way. This process should be improved for customers who have just purchased a new product.

    Big disappointment. We purchased a new Craftsman garage door opener after our existing door started to show signs of being unreliable after over over 10 years active of use. We were pleased with our prior door so had high expectations for quality. Unfortunately our new garage door opener is significantly inferior in quality. The remotes only worked for one day and then one only worked when standing right outside the garage door. This is not our definition of an automatic garage door opener. We called and did receive a helpful response and willingness to exchange the remotes. Unfortunately they provided us with incompatible remotes so we are no closer to a resolution.

    This was an easy opener to install and the motion detector light is a plus-especiallly for those that forget to turn off the overhead garage light- the belt drive is a very quiet system for those that have bedrooms over their garage- woulr recommend to anyone.

    It was very easy to assemble and install. It is much quieter than the chain drive opener it replaced. Just with I could use the old buttons already installed at both ends of the garage. I haven't hung the wireless key pad yet so can't comment on how well it works. Now I need to figure out what to do with the extra two buttons on each remote.
