Great price, quiet, lots of accessories May 02, 2011
I bought this to replace an old genie garage door opener. This came with everything I wanted, and was pretty easy to install. It took two of us about 1-2 hours total. 2 ladders is a real help as well. It is much quieter than the old one as well. Make sure to join the craftsman club if you are not a member for an additional discount!

Sears garage door opener does not function April 02, 2011
Installation was easy. Door closes until door about 3/4 of the way down then reverses. I have replaced the sensors. Realigned the sensors until solid light. Check for wiring shorts. Local sears store staff do not know enough to help. Last time for sears equipment. Sears would replace the sensors if they sent a service man out to install them ( replacement sensors =free, service call =$100!)

Craftsman 1/2 HP Garage Door opener works great February 06, 2012

Like the fact that it can handle 2-100 watt light bulbs, gives great light in the garage. Wall mount allows you to turn the lights on and off without opening or closing the door. Sensors turn light on when you enter or leave, great when you are working in the driveway after dark (snow shoveling etc.) Only downside was the installation provided bt Sears. Installation was done poorly causing door cable top the track, door could not close completely due to incorrect installation of connecting bar, and sensors were improperly placed. Had to call someone in to fix. Did complain to Sears, who did address the situation. No complaint with Sears store personell, just parties contracted by Sears to install

None So Far!Much improved over 1993 Craftsman 1/2 horsepower model it replaced! Quieter and smoother operation. Sensors not hypersensitive like the previous model (would sense high moisture exhaust and spider webs). Like option of outside keypad for those times when I want to access garage but not have to walk all the way around the building. I had it installed and they were extremely professional and helpful in making sure system functioned correctly when I trialed it, fine tuning adjustments to ensure optimal operation.

Illogical choice of installation vendorThe garage door works great. However, the installation was a nightmare. The Sears vendor broke my garage door glass and had to replace it. The installation vendor was the issue. He had to make three trips to my home.Overall, a great product with not problems so far.

Easy to install and quiet January 16, 2012

So far So good!!Replaced an older model that broke only because the board that the front rail mounts to came loose. It was easy to install if you are a handy person. I was able to use some of the previous existing mounting hardware. My only complaint, and it is a weak one, is that the new electronic eyes are hardwired. Without a plug in connector it forces you to re-route the wires to the main unit if you are to do it right. You can not utilize the existing wires. This would also create an annoyance if the eyes ever needed replacement, which is something I have had to do in the past. I am a Mechanical Design Engineer with 30+ years of experience and do almost all my own home maintenance.
