Craftsman Garage Door Opener 3/4 hp Chain Drive, Keyless Entry

Quiet and easy to install. February 03, 2012

Replaced an older 1/2 HP craftsman opener with this one. Installation was easy, it mounted to the existing ceiling bracket. It is much quieter and faster than the old unit. The only disappointment was my old remotes wouldn't work with the new opener.

Impressive Craftsman Garage Opener January 30, 2012

I bought two of these Craftsman garage door openers a little over a year ago and installed them myself. The kit comes with an opener motor (chain, bars & install components & direction booklet) 2 wireless remotes for your vehicles, one wall wired controller (with motion sensor, lock button, and door opener button) and a wireless remote keypad for outside the garage door.

This was my first time installing garage door openers and it went fairly smooth. I have a 2-car door and a single-car door. Obviously the 3/4hp model has plenty of lifting power for both! A second person to help with the install at key times would be strongly suggested but I was able to use a second ladder to support the opener when getting ready to attatch it to the ceiling.

Pros: Both openers use same (315MHz - black button) remote, Keyless entry pad is so convenient. Never get locked out again! Quiet door opperation - not loud, no one in the above 2nd story bedroom is awakened or bothered by the openers. Motion sensor so when you walk into your garage from the house or outside the lights instantly go on. You can program how long they stay on. Plus the Craftsman Red looks great and matches my tool boxs and work bench.

You can program the keyless entry pad with your 4 digit private access code and also a temporary one that can be given to friends, neighbors or the appliance service man who need access to your house to work on whatever. You set the temporary code and how many times it will work. Once it is used that 'X' amount of times it expires - no more access granted.

I also installed a new Craftsman radio controller (315MHz same as garage openers) on my driveway gate opener. (Model# 53751 or # 53757) I can now control all 3 openers with one remote. Talk about convenient and making life easier.  Would highly recommend this garage door opener kit. I also suggest getting it when it is on sale as I did and save a good deal of money.

3/4 hp chain drive garage door opener- replaced a burned out uni January 13, 2012

This replacement (stronger than the old one and I replaced the SPRINGS- works well. A bit noisy. The installation directions were a bit confusing- if I had not installed other Sears openers in the past - it would have been somewhat difficult to follow.

The motion sensor to turn on the lights is a real convenience. The remotes work well

I thought I'd be able to use my old Sears remotes NO SUCH LUCK.

Bottom line- I am happy with it.

Even the dog does not hear it working January 01, 2012

We were having a rash of problems with the door opener in our new house. Even though we have only been here two years the original unit was so noisy and slow that it was a blessing when it quit and trapped the car inside. Sears had a great deal on this powerful 3/4 hp unit so it was perfect timing. Bought it one day, installed it the next. Took a couple of hours to strip out the old and put in the new but it was well worth it.

The new Crafstman unit is fast, dead quiet, and even has a battery backup for when the power goes off. My wife loves the auto sensor that turns on the bright lights in the garage. Just walk nearby and the garage is filled with light.

Everybody loves the quiet way that it works. Before the dog would always meet us at the door when we got home but now even the dog is caught unaware of when we get home. The ten year warranty on the drive belt should cover us for a good long time. If the durability is as good as the fine engineering in this machine we should not have to worry for many years. Thanks Craftsman for another quality tool to get the job done.
