sturdy and secure ceiling bike rack system August 10, 2010
I bought two of these Racor bike rack systems to store bikes for the winter. It works well to organize your garage where storage is limited. The braces are metal and will hold the heaviest bike. The plastic pulley system works well and it is really quick and easy to raise and lower a bike.
My only problem was that the installation was difficult mainly because you have to drill holes and install screws while on a ladder, although that's not a fault of the product but just what needs to be done. A tip: another person to help change bits on your drill and hold the screws helped quite a bit.

well i got up to the ceiling measured everything just like the directions said all you need is a phillips screw driver right,,,,,then the screw won't go in all the way ....they striped out right away !! how can you screw in a 2" screw made of soft metal so i went down to my local hardware store and got 2" lag bolts it was real easy after that all you need is a socket wrench more power to driver the bolts less work for you ( i had to remove the screws that came with the rack with vise grips )

We have enjoyed this system of getting the bikes up and out of the normal walkway. Previously we used the hooks, but the garage ceiling was just high enough that only the tallest person could get the bikes down. This system has been great because even our pre-teen can retrieve their bike and store it without additional help. Highly recommend.
