I am not tool-inclined at all but found this tool and instructions to be so simple and easy. It cut and stripped the wires with precision. I also like the safety locking feature on the tool which gave me added safety assurance when storing.

These wire strippers are tough and keep their cutting edge for a long time. In fact, I usually lose them long before I wear them out.

I have purchased these to replace some I have had for 8 yrs. These are very sharp and cut the insulation very easily and are very compact and fit in my pouch very nicely. And as always has a great warranty.

I bought myself a pair of #82544 wire strippers for work a few years ago, and they've become my favorite pair of strippers to use. Nothing fancy at all about them, but they don't need to be because they just plain work. They've been used quite a bit in production work, and the blades seem to have as sharp of an edge on them as when I bought them. Personally, I like the light opening spring opposed to the stronger ones on other pairs I've used. I have a better feel on the blades that way, and I've become quite good at stripping the outer shell off coaxial type wires using the cutting blades to circle the wire.

I found it mildly ironic that the soldering iron (with batteries included) had a hard time melting the solder that came with the kit (even on high heat). After 30 minutes of trying to solder two 18 guage wires together on my truck, I admitted to myself that my stick-to-itivness was really just wasting my time. As a result, unable to get the job done, I wasted more time returning the soldering iron to my local Sears (who I must admit was fantastic in accepting it with absolutely no questions asked). After getting the $20 back, I picked up Craftsman No's 54041 (30-W soldering iron) for $8, 82544 (wire stripper) for $9, and a tube of solder for a couple of bucks. Summary: If you don't have a plug near where you're going to be soldering, save your money and buy the cheaper plug-in soldering iron and an extension cord.
