MetalTech  Contractor Series Mini Aluminum Rolling Scaffold

As a homeowner, there are times where a platform larger and more stable than a stepladder could be used to get out-of-reach work done. Although I have a home 5-8’ adjustable stepladder (inside use) and a garage 17’ multi-ladder (outside use), all of my home’s 9’ facial-soffit eves and carport siding need cleaning attention twice a year. One solution came with the multi-use ladder’s ability to become 2 scaffold trestles. However, that required a purchase of a heavy plank and repeated time consuming re-setup activities to move around the exterior of my home. After mulling over my options, I found an affordable, convenient and safe solution to my dilemma.

The Aluminum Metaltech Mini-Scaffold Stepladder (distributed by Xtend & Climb IMAC in US and marketed under their name here at Sears) provides me with a very mobile SCAFFOLD unit that can quickly and easily be repositioned as my cleaning\repair work is done in each location. Along with my main scaffold home maintenance usages, I can also create a heavy-duty CART that can safely wheel all of my landscaping project supplies around my property. Or it can become a mobile work-table PLATFORM\BENCH for my construction projects around the house. Because of its compactness and portability, it can even become a mini set of BLEACHERS for my wife and I to enjoy our grand children’s field sporting events! Its main features are:

*Scaffold Structure – Aircraft grade Aluminum alloy 6061-T6 of 1.5” welded tubular that measures Open-48”t x  42”w x 21”d, and for storage Closed-48”t x 21”w x 3.5”d! The rear of each 4’ scaffold stand is connected with a well constructed swivel bar that allows the unit to open\close very simply and quickly. Setup\teardown is a breeze and storage needs are very compact.

*Platform Planks – Two Blue anti-slip thermosetting polyester finish 16 gauge steel planks that measure 42.5”w x 9”d x 1.25”h. These have 1\2 round indents with hard plastic sleeves that allow the planks to set on the horizontal rungs of the scaffold, securely locking in the overall structure and creating a step up to the working plank.

*Mobile Wheels – Four heavy-duty non-marring 4” swiveling casters with locking tabs & threaded stems to attach to the bottom legs of each scaffold side.

The completed unit setup weighs in a mere 40lbs, but can safely handle an OSHA rated 600lb maximum loading. I find the aluminum welding on all the 1.5” tubular very substantial, solid and professional. The stored unit takes up very little footprint, but with a safe working standing height of 3’ (2nd rung from top-4 total rungs @ 1’ apart), my overall vertical reach is 9’, with a horizontal reach of almost 6’. The lockable wheels secure the unit in a solid position and although the light framed tubular creates a little shakiness (it’s Light), I’ve found it to be strong and stable while performing my task.

I paid a little more to obtain this fine finished aluminum tubular that will never rust (steel sets are about 40% less).
