Very Good machine for the price! April 06, 2009
I registered to sewing classes wich required to bring your own sewing machine, so I started a look through the internet information about it... I looked so many options... But since I was just beginning I didn't want to spend a lot of many and I really want to learn how to sew - adjust the proper tension, choose the correct needle, etc... That's why I bought this machine, since it's not electronic I would learn how to use it properly. A sewing machine is not a easy thing to use - you have to adjuste so many things that probably just reading the manual will not be enough. But this machine come with a DVD in english, spanish and portuguese (my native language), what made a lot easier to understand how to make a lot of things, since I had never sewed before. I didn't have any problem that a beginner could not have. The first time that I tried to sew by myself, for example, I could not make a straight line. But my sewing teacher show me how to correct the wrong things that I was doing and gave so many tips and showed things that I have to pay attention, that probably some errors that some people are reporting in the other reviews could not be happening. I'm very glad with my machine and doesn't have nothing to complain about it.

Avoid this machine! January 03, 2009
I purchased this machine after my 20 year old machine broke down. The first day I got it I couldn't get the bobbin to work. I spent hours trying to work it out. The bobbin case keeps coming out of the machine. The light on the machine is horrible. You will need another light source to see what you're sewing. The manual is not very informative (pictures but no real text). I took the machine back just recently. This machine is a waste of money. I've been sewing for over 20 years and I've never had such trouble with a machine.

I used this machine for two hours when it quit functioning properly.
The machine bends the needles and breaks them. I spent a lot of time trying to fix it, then took it to a sewing machine repair store. The owner at that store told us to throw it away because it would cost more to fix it then it originally cost. In my opinion, it was a total waste of money.

My current machine needs repair, so I borrowed my friend's Singer Inspiration...
The machine won't even sew...the fabric doesn't move!
I consulted the manual a ton of times, as well as constantly checked my bobbin, needle, etc. and made sure it was threaded.
It just sews in ONE PLACE continously and eventually bunches up.
I called Singer's 800 number for help and e-mailing them, but got no helpful response.
Do yourself a favor and invest in a Kenmore. I had it for 12 years before ifinally needing to take it in to be serviced.

Practicallooking for durability

I received my sewing machine the week before christmas and by christmas day it was no longer working. The automatic threader that it advertises "no error threader" does not actually do anything, and space that it gives you for your excess fabric is too little. Every single needle that came with the machine was bent from storage and using purchased ones that meet the same standards for the machine broke because they were too long. Overall I would not recommend this machine to others

great machine for the price. my 8 year old even can use it with no problems. i even made a snowmobile seat cover with thick heavy material and didnt have one problem. if you want a machine that will turn the world go spend a ton of dollars but if you want something to do some good simple sewing at a good price this one will do.
