Kenmore Computerized Sewing Machine is wonderful. December 29, 2010

I love my new sewing machine. It's quiet and easy to operate. The decorative stitches are so much fun to play with and turn out beautifully. The only thing that I don't care for is the automatic needle threader. By the time you figure out how to use it you could have threaded it yourself without all the hassle. Otherwise I'm very pleased with my new machine.

GREAT WHEN IT WORKS October 07, 2008

I had never owned a Kenmore machine, but when replacing my 20 year old Singer, I liked the features offered by the Kenmore, and figured that I would be able to get parts/repairs easily through Sears. And, in truth, when the machine operates properly, I love it. I began experiencing problems with a safety feature when reloading the bobbin to front drop in. The window that normally displays the stitch indicators changed to "STOPPED FOR SAFETY PURPOSES". There was nothing in the manual that directed a person to self check where the problem may be. After doing some research online, it seemed like the bobbin case was not seating correctly. This was so frustrating. When the occurance began to occur with regularity, I returned to repair center. It has been almost 6 weeks, and still the sewing machine is not repaired. If I had the opportunity to return this machine, I would. When it was working, it sews beautifully and met all my expectations and then some. But, the down time and frustration dealing with repair personnel that cannot fully respond is just too frustrating. I have been on hold with the repair center for then entire time it took me to type this review.

The only way it could be better is to do all the sewing itself! October 28, 2011

consistant, easy to set up,sews great on denim and silk, work horse

Classic piece of American machinery! My first Kenmore sewing machine was a Christmas gift from my Mom when I was 14. I used that machine for 40 years with zero problems! I now have my second Kenmore machine and it makes sewing a pleasure.

    What a great machine! October 15, 2011

    Pros:
consistant, easy to set up,displays correct foot for you, flip open stitch list on the machine, sews great on denim and silk, work horse, pretty quiet, powerful,User friendly for everyone

I first bought Sears Kenmore multi stitch in '94. I liked the machine so much that I bought the 'new and improved' model again in 2000. Then again in 2008. Each time I found the price lower than the time before and the machine had added stitches. This is the best machine I have owned; and I have owned White, Singer models (many, many including treadle), and Brother .I buy a machine for sewing and quilting with minimal embroidery. I do not need an expensive embroidery machine with all the cartridges. I am happy with the built in stitches that are available since I do minimal embroidery. If I need something large embroidered I do that by hand. This is a great quality machine that will give years of service. I have three of these machines due to the number of projects I work on as I am sewing nearly daily. This machine will impress you. It not only comes with instruction booklet and DVD with detailed information. This machine is user friendly for the novice as well as the experienced seamstress. It is one of the few machines now days that comes with a hardshell dust cover for everyday use or for taking with you. Machine is lightweight and easy to take anywhere.

Kenmore Computerized Sewing Machine Model 19233 is superb!! July 22, 2011
    via Sears.com
    By zoom183 of Merryville, LA
    Pros:
consistant, easy to set up,auto up/down needle setting, displays correct foot for you, flip open stitch list on the machine,no thinking about width/length of stitch, sews great on denim and silk, comes with color coded needles, work horse, pretty quiet, powerful

I have been sewing for about 20 years and decided to replace my existing machine with a model with more options.  This is my third sewing machine.  My first was a Kenmore machine that I loved but I gave it to a relative and purchased a Viking.  I regretted that almost immediately!  The Viking was never able to make a decent button hole.  After much frustration I have come back to Kenmore!!  The Model 19233 is quiet, powerful and has all of the options that anyone who enjoys sewing will appreciate.  I have found the instruction manual very clear and concise; the machine also comes with a tutorial dvd.  The dvd gives you an overview of the machine's capabilties while the manual goes in to more detailed explanation.  I also really like the fact that the machine also has an automatic needle threader!  If you are looking for a sturdy, well made, powerful sewing machine with many sewing options, this is the sewing machine for you!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my new Kenmore sewing machine June 03, 2011

    Cons:
    monagraming is small.

I just bought this machine a few weeks ago, and am in love with it. I already own a Husqvarna Viking Emerald 116. It is a great machine, too, but it really didn't have all the bells and whistles I was wanting. However, most of the machines I've been looking at that have all the features that I want are WAY over my price range (like $1000 and over...yikes!!). So, when I heard about this one, I researched it online and decided to go to my local Sears store to check it out. Unfortunately, my store had decided to stop carrying sewing machines, but they did have one left (my lucky day). They had it marked $100 less than the advertised price online (my day got even luckier!!). So I purchased it, and I have absolutely no regrets. My favorite features are the "needle stop down" button, the speed control for sewing (I mean who the heck needs to sew at lightning speed...I find better accuracy with a slightly slower speed), and, of course, the awesome assortment of decorative stitches. If you are looking for a sewing machine that has all the bells and whistles but at a budget friendly price, I would highly recommend this one. The only things it doesn't have that I would have liked is an automatic thread cutter and a knee lift for the presser foot. But, heck, I can live without those things if it means I save loads of $$$.
