Kenmore  Progressive Canister Vacuum Cleaner - Blueberry

I have always had Kemore vacuums. I previously owned an older version of this same model. First off, I don't like the shrunken tools and that two of them are hanging on the wand. I like all the tools onboard. Second, I seem to have found two (I exchanged the first one) that blow very hot air out of the back. Hot enough to heat up my apartment and hot enough to cause me to really sweat (and no, I'm wasn't having a hot flash). I've never had a vacuum that blew that much hot exhaust. (I tested my old Kenmore I still have (thank God I haven't tossed it yet) and it blows warm air, not blazing hot.) I am very disappointed with the vacuum and Sears should be ashamed for letting their quaility go down the drain. No wonder Sears in going under. DO NOT BUY THIS VACUUM. I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT.

The feature I like best about this vacuum cleaner is the telescoping wand.

I have been a Kenmore vacuum fan for many years...it's the only brand I've used. The plug on my old cleaner is loose, so the power comes and goes and is dangerous to operate. Since I'm not good at replacing parts (which would've saved a lot more money), I had to get a new one. Here's my pros: 1) It works and gets the job done. Here's my cons: 1) Design-wise, it's stepped backwards. There is too much bulky plastic on the wand, making it hard to use. The previous canister vacuum had a slim metal wand, so that I can easily slide the wand into hard to reach places underneath furniture. With the new design, I can't do that. 2) I have to use the crevice tool in order for the suction to be more powerful as opposed to using it w/o the crevice tool. The plastic surrounding the end of the wand reduces the suction power. 3) I don't like how the crevice tool is attached to the handle, that plastic piece holding the tool is bound to break after constant use.

I got it heavily discounted but it was worth the upgrade from an upright. My only complaint is the hose is made of coiled wire and will will smash if you accidentally step on it.

So, I had a canister for many years, happily ever after. Then we moved and I wanted a new one. What a mistake. In a few short years the power head went, the hose unravelled, what a nightmare. Tried another brand, that broke, wow. So , today we went on Consumer Reports, and found 4/5 top choices were Kenmore. So we tried again. After reading all these reviews. We were ready. The lower model did have a shorter hose and wand, too short for the average person. I'm still worried about the hose breaking up, and the power head giving up and the stair beater attachment breaking, so, my compromise is buying the extended warranty which is not my 'bag'. Don't think that should be an expectation with a new product. What I do love is the longer cord. I can now reach many more areas without unplugging, I liked the floor head (not power) it fit nicely under my baseboard heat unit. I like the duster and crevice tool on the handle. I do not like pulling the canister with my hose.

Tried the Miele and Dyson prior to the "blueberry". This vacuum cleaner works great on my plush carpet. Easy to push. Cleans beautifully. Am very happy. I agree with Consumers Report magazine. One of the best out there.

This unit has only mediocre suction. The big head on the end of the wand prevents getting under furniture, even with the bare floor tool. The hose is short, won't reach across my vehicle. The crevice tool is only about 6 inches long. I'll go back to using my old Kirby.

Very thorough cleaning, easily gets under sofas, beds, etc. Everything stored on/in the canister. One drawback - it's pretty heavy at about 23 pounds.

My Mother once owned a Kenmore vacuum and had it for 30yrs, now I know why! This vacuum is a powerful vacuum! The vacuum's tools are VERY helpful in cleaning pet hair off furniture. Love this vacuum!!
