This canister is great! I chose it over a dyson after months of researching. It cleans well and efficiently. I love that the hardwood attachment is a quick step off of the beater brush. I also love that all of the tools are stored on the canister--making it easier to find the right tool no matter where I may be in the house. I have only had this vacuum for a few weeks, but I admit I vacuum nearly every other day. It's easy to operate, quick to clean, and the long cord means I don't have to move it to another outlet to do the 1000+ square feet on my first floor! I highly recommend this vacuum. It is a little heavy for bringing up and down the stairs, but certainly worth it, in my opinion!

This is the most expensive piece of junk I have ever purchased.
Within the first week, the cord would not catch, meaning that I had to yank on it to prevent the cord from retracting back into its compartment. So now I consider a successful vacuuming day a day when the cord will actually stay out until I'm finished.
The silver piece on the bottom, I guess its the roller, comes off in mid vacuum which of course causes a pause in the action until I can figure out how to put it back on.
The long wand and small pet vacuum do not easily unattach, to the point where I just want to throw the thing to the other side of the room.
The plastic door that covers the attachment compartment and small pet hair vacuum have now decided not to close and pretty much just pop off.
What a piece of crap, I feel like leaving it in the front of the store and just walking away.

Have had this vac almost 3 weeks. I see others have problem with cord winding back into vac and pulling out of outlet. Well I have the opposite problem. I have trouble with the damn cord NOT wanting to rewind! I wanted a bag vac because the last upright wind tunnel shot dirt out back and if my husband wanted me to vac then he was the one to have to empty the cannister. Whats the point of hepa filter when you have to dump and breathe all the crap you just vac up? Well back to my hot rod blue vac!!! ahahhh Didn't see these reviews before I bought this vac, almost $500. The only great thing about is the color!!
I have never rated anything on the internet before, but I feel that this is such a great vacuum, I had to do it...My mother-in-law had lent me her Electrolux for a bit and I really loved it--it had powerful suction and the idea of a canister grew on me. So when I decided to buy one of our own, I looked for a canister. A friend of mine who owns her own cleaning business told me about her Kenmore, and I had my doubts that it was as good as the electrolux. I went to Sears and tried it out and it did have suction as strong as the Electrolux...but with way better features. For instance, I love the handle on the canister that makes it easy to carry and hold for steps, etc. Also, the fact that the bare floor head is built right into the power head and easily clicks out is AWESOME! No more carrying around 2 different heads...the attachments are great, too--love the mini power head for the steps.
I was going to leave only 4 stars because, at first use, it seemed awfully hard to push. BUT, my genius husband came home and moved the position of the handle up (to make it longer--telescoping wand) and, voila, it was much easier to push. So, there's absolutely nothing bad to say about this vacuum...I love it!
After reading some reviews, I had my doubts about this vacuum. (Before I got this one, I purchased a different model and brought it back the next day.)
I am happy to say that really like this vacuum. It's not loud (quieter than my very old PowerMate), and I really like the features my old vacuum didn't have (bare floor vs carpets; PowerMate attachments that swivel; and a SUPER long power cord, for example.) Best of all is the attachment for stairs. (My runner hasn't looked this good since it was installed.) Once I got the hang of how to "free" the tube from the bare floor PowerMate heads, I went to town with the attachments.
I got it on sale (it'd kill me to pay the full price for it), so that was a plus, too.
Let me try to be objective. Because there really are pros and cons to this machine. I've owned this vacuum for almost 4 years. The suction really is powerful and really only diminishes when the bag is completely full... and you'll notice, change it and be right back on track. But I'm already having to replace this vacuum. I'll admit all the abuse it takes and you decide if that is reasonable wear and tear or not. I don't think it is (for it to be pooping out this early) - and I would not recommend it to an enemy. But you can make that decision for yourself. I have 3 children who eat goldfish crackers, cheerios and other generally crunchy things. I like having the hard-floor tool when they drop things under the kitchen table. I have friends who have their regular vacuum AND a flat floor steamer mop sucker thing also. I like the all-in-one (minus steaming). I have one golden retriever. He loves to run around and be outside, so he only wants to come in when it's too cold/too hot or to eat and sleep. I vacuum every other day, sometimes days in a row, but I'm anal about dog hair like that. I do think it is pretty great that Sears carries all parts to this vacuum - that's not a usual vacuum experience to be able to replace a broken part if you have the handy husband I do. We have replaced the flat-head attachment to the flat-foor portion. That was over $100. But, it's not so awesome to be able to rebuild the whole dang vacuum when you end up needing 20 parts. The wheels on the floor-brush "main" vacuuming head pop off and eventually become wonky. The hose has 2 holes in it. The cord will not stay released, so I have to hold it out while I vacuum... which wouldn't seem that big a deal until you vacuum with something that weighs the same as a small farm animal. Forget wanting to lug it up a flight of stairs. I stub my toe on the canister part or accidentally pull it along with too much force - and it really does not bring out my best when it meets the back of my heal with a bang. Trust me. I don't love having spent so much on a vacuum when it doesn't last - I mean, my grandmother had the same vacuum for half a freaking century. I exaggerate, but why are we having to replace vacuum after vacuum? I don't remember this being a problem when I was little. If you want the investment, have zero pets, and are an empty-nester with a cleaning lady, then maybe. If you care a thing about your cleaning lady... No.
