Cleans great, but is not reliable. August 02, 2011

This is the best cleaning vacuum I have ever owned. This is one of the few vacuums that has a direct drive system for the agitator roller brush. This gives more power to the the brush to keep it rotating at higher speeds and get more dirt out of the carpet. The dirt sensor is very easy to read and you know when an area of the carpet has been cleaned satisfactorily. 

I do not like having to manage bags, a HEPA filter and a sponge filter. The HEPA filters are not too expensive, but its another item that you to keep in stock and change on a regular basis.

I do not think these vacuums are built to last. I know a few people that have owned these vacuums for a few years and all of them have had something repaired. Just recently I smelled an electric burning smell coming from the exhaust air of my vacuum. I diagnosed the problem and determined that the fan motor was going bad. A new motor is approximately $80.00 plus labor. Since I like the cleaning ability of the vacuum and they don't make this vacuum anymore, I will pay for the part and make the repair myself.

The vacuum cleans great, but it is not reliable. I would expect better from a Kenmore product.   

WAY too heavy, and doesn't even roll freely. June 27, 2011

I've been using this ridiculous machine for over a year . It's monstrously large and heavy, unwieldly, and doesn't seem to roll freely at all. Edge cleaning's poor, of course don't even think of getting it under a bed or dresser without changing attachments. Wrestling it downstairs (am a 100 lb 5'4" non-athletic woman) is a dangerous, royal pain-in-the-butt ! And vacuuming stairs ? Forget about it.

It does snarf up the dirt well enough, I suppose.

I suppose I could channel some of my deep reserve of loathing and resentment to help me propel the thing.

I love this vacuum. Had to get away from the old wind canister vacuum, it was just putting the allergens right back in the air. Noticed a difference the very first time I used it.

Yes, the vacuum doesn't edge but that's what the wand is for. A vacuum is not going to replace edging ALL the floors. It is heavy and I like that because if the vacuum is stationary while I'm using the floor sweeper or the edger and I stretch the tube, the vacuum doesn't fall down on me like lighter models.

Amazing vacuum, it's used 2-4 times a week for the last 2 years and I tell ya, my house is cleaner, my allergies are down big time. Thank you Sears!!! PS my brother has had one for years, worry free :)

I hate this vacuum cleaner. February 14, 2011

I hate this vacuum cleaner for many reasons: it's heavy, cumbersome, doesn't clean close to walls, attachments come apart during use, both hands are needed to remove/secure hose, and brush attachment kept falling out of it's holder (until I wrapped painter's tape around the shaft, making it a tighter fit so it no longer falls out). For the money I spent on this, I now have to use it until I won't feel guilty giving it to Goodwill. I used to own a Fantom Fury and LOVED IT. The hose was accessible for easy use, and it had the capability to vacuum in high places.
