WOW!!!!!! May 27, 2008
We have a black lab/chesapeake mix and a cat - both are moderate shedders, but I thought my old vacuum was taking care of that problem - till I broke my ankle one day - while laying on the floor waiting for the ambulance to arrive, I noticed how much my old one WASN'T taking care of it! So, as soon as I was ambulatory enough to hobble to Sears, I got this Dyson, and WOW!!!!!! Just in vacuuming one rug, about 5x7 feet, I got so much pet hair sucked out that I had to empty the dirt cup before moving on to the bigger rug! It's also relatively lightweight for its size, and even though I'm still hobbling on the broken ankle in a brace, I was able to easily vacuum the stairs to the attic with the included turbine tool, and again WOW!!!!!! It looks like we have new carpeting on those stairs now! I have no qualms about spending the money on this one - yes, it's pricey, but SO WORTH IT! My allergies have improved already just in the week since I got it - it's gotten rid of so much pet hair & dirt that I didn't even realize was ground into my floors! I LOVE IT!!!!!!

I was really excited to get a Dyson with all the great reviews and reccommendations. I put this together as soon as I got it home. The suction seemed to work great, no issues there, but the plastic piece in the front kept getting stuck in the carpet when you push it forward and was impossible to work with. I called Dyson and they had me take out a couple of gaskets and try it without the roller. It helped slightly, but still gets stuck when pushing forward. There are no adjustments on it to accommodate various carpet types. While it's reasonably thick, it's pretty standard carpet, nothing unusual. In order to make it work, you have to bend it down to a nearly horizontal position so that it will move over the carpet without getting stuck. Within a minute your back is killing you. This vacuum does not work on all types of carpet so keep in mind before purchasing. For the money, you'd think they would make it with a better design and adjustable.

I have to say I like it Can't say that I love it. I had the Dyson Animal for 4 years and due to reasons beyond anyones control I wrecked mine. So in a hurry i ordered on line and went to pick this one up at sears. It does pick up well and is very good at what it does but if you have pets be sure to get the one especially for pet hair. spend the extra money . This one is good but it doesn't have the self propeller and the wand is much harder to get undone and so is the latch on the dust bin. Other than that works well but not as well as the animal vac. had i purchased this one first I may have liked it better but because I was spoiled by the animal vac I can't seem to love it as much as I should.

I bought this vacuum, and was expecting good, but got great!...... I have bought "good" vacuums in the past (spending $300) and they were not living up to the price. This is the BEST vacuum ever.... the dirt and dust were sucked up and it looked like a new carpet.

Just purchased this vacuum today and couldn't wait to put it to the test. With 3 cats, I never felt our old vacuum could keep up. I vacuumed with our old vacuum first and then plugged in our new Dyson. Unbelievable to see the full canister of dirt/hair/dust that our old vaccum left behind and what the Dyson picked up! I highly recommend this product!!!!!
