I never thought that we would go back to a bagged vacuum but we have been very happy with this purchase. It effectively cleans whatever the kids or dog may leave behind for me to clean up - dirt, foot crumbs, dog hair, etc.
A little on the heavy side but has great suctioning power. We have had very little problems with clogs - unlike our old vacuum.

This vacuum is good overall. It is easy to use and set up. The cleaning power/suction is excellent and the noise level seems to be normal for a product of this kind. The self propelled feature is nice to have and works pretty well. After vacuuming the rooms seem to smell fresher. The vacuum however is made of cheaper plastics that have a few rough edges. The overall build quality is not the best. Our last vacuum an older Kenmore was a lot more solid. The attachments are also not the best and are cheaply made. The hose for the attachments is also a little shorter than our last vacuum as well as the power cord. I would recommend this product, but I would be surprised if this vacuum lasted 8 years like our last Kenmore. They just do not build things like they used to.

Worst Vac! So Many Problems! January 13, 2012

Off switch doesn't work,Self Propel won't turn off,Too many problemsI personally own a previous WindTunnel model & it's ok. But this one... The first time I used it, the off switch wouldn't work. The only way to turn it off was to unplug it. Thought I could live with that since I only cleaned the office every other week. The second time I used it, the roller wouldn't work, so it wouldn't vacuum. The third time, I disassembled it (the handle was all the assembly required) & assembled it again. When I turned it on, it went backwards (the self propel wouldn't turn off either). I decided it wasn't worth dealing with & returned it. After I had all these problems I decided to research this model. There were way too many reviews with some of the same problems. I'm now researching other vacs. I won't buy another WindTunnel though!

Heavy,needs longer hose,Plastic partsThis is my 4th upright in 53 years, the only style I'd have. It does a good job and the edge pickup on both carpet & hard surface is very good. It does a better job on the hard surface then any I've had; it doesn't miss anything or throw is around the floor, so to speak. I've only had it about 3 weeks and I am having a problem adjusting to the self propelled feature. Previous to making this purchase I'd read lots of consumer comments posted here. Some made the comment about unit not turning off by the switch and having to unplug to turn it off. The problem could have been - when I installed the upper handle, screwing in the Phillips screws I could not manually tighten all the way. I also had the issue of not being able to turn off by the button but if I'd press the part held by the screws it would work correctly. I charged up the power screw driver to FULLY tighten the screws and haven't had a problem since. I'd prefer that the cord, coming out of the unit to be higher up the handle. It is heavier then I'd like. It could be more quiet however my previous vacuum is about the same level. Also, could use a little more hose length as this isn't one of the cheapest models. Hoover should have the women that use the vacuums help with the design.

For a vacuum cleaner that never fails the Hoover Upright Self-Propelled is hard to beat. Not only does it do a super job when it comes to vacuuming duties it is easy to clean afterwards by cleaning hair, etc. from the roller by turning upside down. The attachments can be used for special household cleaning when regular vacuuming just won't do. The bag is easy to change as well. Highly Recommended......Way to go Hoover and Sears...!!!
