Required For 3 Dogs, 2 Cats, 2 Doves and a Rabbit!
We own the original Animal and after five years of trouble free use we decided to upgrade to this one with the ball. It picks up everything from the dirt out dogs bring in on their feet to the fine, downy hair that our Belgin Shepard sheds this time of year. She sheds so bad that we can fill up a bag on our old Kenmore canister vac every week. There is no extra expense like bags with the Dyson.
We use it to clean carpeted floors, ceramic floors, throw rugs, bare cement in the basement, and the entry rugs in the garage.
We really like all the new attachments this Dyson comes with.
One of the best things we like about the Dysons is there are no bags to buy. It comes apart easily to clean. (We wash the canister, suction tubes and filter every six months) The HEPA filters are washable. It never loses suction. And it picks up finer dust a lot better than most of the bagged vacuums.
If you have animals this is the ONLY vacuum to buy!

Worst Vacuum I have ever used
It picks up more hair on the outside then it sucks up. It does lose suction when what they call the cyclone gets full of dirt and you must blow it out or take another vacuum to it which is what they recomended or just beat it on the floor which make me feel better. My 15 year old hoover worked better than this and it had cracked hoses. They did say this wasn't there more powerful one when I told it couldn't even suck up my tiny area rug which my Hoover use to eat for breakfast. Very Very dispointed for the amount of money I spent.

I bought a dyson some years ago, but decided it was time to upgrade. What an incredible machine! The cleaning power is stunning, and the ease of handling is truly superb!@ All you have to do is steer as it vacuums by itself! I LOVE this machine, and so does my house... With 7 long haired dogs...it's an essential.

this was a gift so I have no idea how well it works. the only thing I can say is the options you get seem to be very useful, like the wand hose will reach out a good distance so you can keep the sweeper downstairs while you vacum the stair treads and the animal attachment is a very good idea

BEST VACUUM EVER!
After I tried it out in one room where the carpet had been vacuumed the day before, I showed my husband what it had picked up. All he could say was "WOW", "WOW". The tank was full and had picked up all the pet fur (we have a dog & 2 cats). The carpet also looked new as the pile was also lifted by the suction. She (pink so a girl) is my new best friend!

Minimal assembly. Never loses suction, easy to use and empty. Very good at corners and edges. Gets under things better than most. Rolling ball makes it turn better than any other vacuum we have owned. Quality seems high.

I had a Dyson vac (yellow) a few years back and had to leave it behind when I moved from one state to another, thinking I would be able to get it later but that didn't happen and swore I would get another Dyson. I read the reviews on this model and was worried about some of the negative comments, like it not picking up dog food and cheap construction. I was sceptical about those reviews because I LOVED my previous Dyson, so I went ahead and purchased this vac. I LOVE this vac even more than my last one, it is easy to use the tools, easy to push, easy to dump the waste container, it does an incredible job cleaning (it picks up dog food), not cheaply made. I can vac from my carpet to my kitchen right on to my throw rugs and never even stop, it adjusts automatically, it doesn't suck the throw rugs.Yes this vac is costly, but in the last 4 years I have spent what it cost me to buy this vac on other vacs. I have had 2 back surgeries so ease of use and performance is very important to me.

This is an upgrade to my original Dyson. Love the manueverability of the ball and the self adjusting cleaning head that goes from rug to bare floor works beautifully!
