We got this microwave after trying out two other microwaves by GE. We've had good luck with GE in the past so we thought we'd go that route. However, we couldn't find a countertop GE with a door handle. We knew we didn't like the push botton door. Another important factor to me was that the microwave have a 30 second button. This had it. After using this microwave for 3 months, we're happy with it. It's powerful; the door handle is much easier to use than the push button kind; the door opens and closes quietly (we have a newborn so that's important); there's a mute option so all sounds are muted (again, important because we don't want to wake a sleeping baby); and the buttons are fairly well laid out and has a good flow to it. The only thing I would ask for and the very reason this microwave didn't get a five-star rating from me is the fact that there are no express one-touch minute (1-5 minutes) buttons on the dial. And because of that, I feel that the microwave is a bit overpriced. Otherwise, I would recommend it to anyone.

warranty consciousvalue conscious

Got this after my GE stainless failed twice in a year before finally biting the dust right after the warranty expired. Doesn't make sense to repair. So far the Amana is still working after almost a year. Not as powerful as my previous GE version and also not as wide although it's almost the same cubic ft and wattage. My bacon rack won't fit in the oven to rotate completely but I can use it without the rotation track. I think it's pretty expensive but found many good reviews online so I gave it a try. Cooks well and evenly. I'm looking for a dependable unit that won't **** out because I use it often. GE don't make good microwaves anymore and I found out it's built by another company with their logo. If this goes, I'm convinved they make these with low quality and with 1 year life spans and will go with a less expensive model. Saw many brands in this size priced under $100.

After 3 uses the microwave "start" button stopped working and the microwave started up randomly until I unplugged it. I was on the phone with Sears for about an hour dealing with the $129 charge they wanted me to pay. The microwave was about 4 weeks old and used it 3 times before it crashed. I finally got Sears to agree to pick up the appliance and refund the money and select out a new one. Sears does stand by their warranty just be persistant.

Just bought this microwave for a new home and it is wonderful. Cooks great and especially like the reminder bells when something is done and I've forgotten it in the oven. The sensor cooking is neat, and we're very happy with it.
