I can't post my review and that is upsetting April 01, 2011

I purchased a Hoover Platinum Collection Carper Cleaner. After vacuuming thoroughly I could not believe how dirty the water in the recovery tank was. The Hoover Platinum Collection Carpet Cleaner also extracts as much water out of the carpet that you use to clean it. The carpet dries a lot faster than other machines i have used.

The indicator lights are excellent. You can use many different selections, Like rinse only, wash and rinse, spot clean or spill. The machine will clean whatever situation occurs. The indicator lights will also let you know if you need more cleaner, fresh water, or empty recovery tank.

I really like that you can take off the spin brush cleaner and wash them thoroughly in the sink, as well as the recovery nozzle. Makes a big difference keeping the nozzle clean of debris for maximum recovery of dirty water.

So far I am satisfied with this purchase although it was a little pricey

Cheap plastic, machine crumbling to bits! May 11, 2011

We bought the Platinum Steam Cleaner 6 months ago, after our 7 year old Bissell finally gave up. We have several pets, and needed a machine we could use every week or two. So my husband listened to the Sears salesman and bought this machine. I noticed it was much more expensive, and much more flimsy than our Bissell, with cheap, lightweight plastic parts. However, it weighed much more, and could not be easily carried. I would use it on one level and ask my husband to carry it up or down the stairs. Cleaning ability was about equal at first. Brushes were actually better. However, the soap tank leaked no matter what I did, and soap is costly. I had to empty out the soap after use.

After a couple of months, plastic parts started to simply fall off! First, the bracket that held an attachment fell apart, no big deal. I hadn't ever used the attachment, actually. Next, the bracket for the hose attachment fell off - couldn't secure the hose. Inconvenient, but solved with duct tape. Screws started falling out while I was cleaning. Plastic housings were missing (had broken off), so I couldn't replace them. I babied the machine, carefully moving it whenever I used it. A few weeks ago, the machine stopped standing up by itself. I had to lean it against a wall when not in use. This past week, the back of the plastic base completely separated from the front while I was cleaning, exposing wires. I was still hoping to use it, but when I removed the waste tank I saw that a couple of pieces of the plastic housing inside the machine, next to the water tank, had fallen out and more wires were exposed. I didn't dare leave it plugged in. I have contacted Customer Service and I am in limbo, waiting to see if they will help me. Run away! This as a very poor quality item.
