Very satisfied with this machine!
When my daughter expressed an interest in buying a cheap sewing machine off Craig's List, I warned her that cheap, cranky old machines do not make sewing fun. I began looking at machines, brought some home, and was so disappointed in the quality, each one was returned. I stumbled on this machine on the Sear's website, and ordered one to be delivered to my local store (that was nice too!)
I've been sewing for about 50 years on all kinds of old Singers, and have been a quiltmaker for about 25 years.. For the last 5 years I've had a relatively inexpensive Brother and I've learned to love a few of the computerized features, like needle up or down position, the START button instead of a foot pedal, speed easily adjusted by sliding a lever, etc. So I was looking for some of those features if possible.
When I took the machine out of the box, my first thought was--"this is nicer than MY machine! I should keep this one and give her my old one." If I hadn't purchased it for Christmas, I might have done that, but was gracious enough to give it as planned. Within minutes she was proudly showing how through just the diagrams on the machine she had wound a bobbin, and threaded the machine. Soon she had a little finger puppet made for her toddler. She loves it. She's eager to begin experimenting with all those fancy stitches. I'm so happy--this is a wonderful bargain whether you are experienced or a novice.

The manual was no help & the DVD was generic to a variety of machines instead of helping with the specific machine I bought. In returning the machine to the store, I had hoped to exchange it for a properly functioning machine; however, the few machines they stocked were all tightly closed up in their boxes. The salesclerk never offered to open a box or help me. Frustrated & discouraged I got a refund & bought a machine somewhere else.

I just sat down, threaded the machine and was ready to go. It replaced a much more expensive machine which broke all the time.

It was purchased for my 13 year. She loves all the amazing stiches it can do! It's easy to use and works well with all materials! My daughter is very picky about electronics/machines. This product has not recieved one negative comment from her. Which is rare! It has put a smile on my face!

Sweet little Sewing Machine
I purchased a more expensive Singer Curvy machine from HSN and wasn't half as happy as I am with this modest little machine. Great basic with plenty of extras. The instructions are very simple to follow and the needle up/down and speed control options are great. I'm tempted to get one for my Granddaughters - the price is very reasonable.

Great machine!
I upgraded from a mechanical machine - an ancient Brother - and I was nervous about going to an electronic machine for a variety of reasons, most specifically anything that has an "auto" whatever. I love to have control over my settings, tension, etc and used to think that all anyone needs is a regular straight stitch or zigzag option. Well I have seen the light and am so happy that I bought this machine. Not only is it a breeze to use, but it's quick. I don't have to dial in settings anymore with the auto tension. The clear bobbin cover allows me to check on how full the bobbin is without taking everything apart. I love the LED light, and how it doesn't get hot. I would have liked another bulb or two though because with just the one LED it isn't very bright. No big deal though. It's smooth to run, whether I'm sewing a tee shirt or upholstery. I'm doing projects that my old machine would never touch - chair slipcovers, and soon, my daughter's communion dress. The decorative stitches are fabulous and it does a great job with a twin needle. Now my 9 year old wants to sew some projects of her own and I can't wait to teach her with this wonderful machine.
