Kenmore 1374 is a great cleaner but so so on noise. January 25, 2011
I installed this a few weeks ago so I can't comment on long term reliability. I wanted a reasonably priced dishwasher that cleans well and this one certainly fits the bill. It's not a horribly noisy machine, but I wouldn't describe it as quiet. You definitely know it is running although the noise is more of the background variety. What this thing does an excellent job on is blasting crud off of dishes. I run it every day, and so far it has managed to clean almost all the food left on the dishes. The only thing it has left is a little bit of oatmeal from breakfast. I now give the breakfast cereal bowls a quick partial rinse but I don't rinse anything else that goes in. Everything comes out sparkling. The cycle run time is about 2 hours. This machine was recommended by **************** in a recent issue and that's why I chose to purchase it. Higher rated machines cost over $1000 so this is definitely a good value for the money. Another attractive feature is its energy star rating so I expect to save some money over time on electricity and water.

Worked OK for about 10 months February 21, 2011
My wife and I have always been please with the Kenmore brands so our first place to shop for a replacement for our 13 yr old Kenmore Dishwasher was Sears. Like most people,we researched dishwashers prior to making this purchase and for the first approx 10 months, we were pleased with it's performance. Sure, there were some dishes that didn't come clean but you'll have that with any dishwasher. We only run the unit a couple of times a week so we pre-rinse everything that goes into it to reduce the dried on food issues. We first started to notice a white film on the everything placed on the upper rack and when talked with a service rep, they recommend running a complete cycle with a cup full of lime-away placed on the top rack but it didn't seem to help and in fact, the lime-away wasn't even fully rinsed out of the cup! I then re ran the unit and periodically open the door and monitored the positions of the middle and and upper spray wands and they aren't turning... no water pressure. Back to the service rep and they recommended cleaning the screen under the lower spray arm and it was clean. I even went on-line to research the problems and found that unit is actually rated in the lower 20% of the dishwashers available... just the opposite to what **************** and Sears reviews stated. I'm back to square one with dishwasher research. We will purchase a replacement and this one will go to the landfill.

This dishwasher carries poor quality materials and the front pannel just burned! The surely do not make things the way the used to years ago. The repairs run around 300usd..since I did not buy the extended warranty..This dishwasher is very suseptible to electrical spikes, it is going to the landfield along with my 800usd spent..strongly do not recommend!

Constant Maintenance IssuesBought this dishwasher about two years ago based on the reputation of the Kenmore brand and because of its ?best buy? rating in a leading magazine. When it was working it did do a decent job of cleaning the dishes. Now the washer has stopped working. Had a repairman out and diagnosed that the main control board is no good. Look at the other negative reviews and notice this is a common problem. The replacement part costs around $140, plus labor, and it seems that the control board lasts around two or so years. If that is quality customers can expect from a Kenmore product then buy from another manufacturer.

Parts fall off repeatedly,motor failed after 2 yrspretty disappointed, for a $500 dishwasher-- this worked ok for a 2 years. the piece the upper spray arm plugs into repeatedly fell off the first 2 years. it would work fine after I picked it up and snapped it back into place, just was a pain since we would only discover it after a load of dishes failed to clean. had to snap the piece back in and wash them over again. after 2 years the main motor has failed. will just buy a new one since I'm not that happy with this unit and don't want to spend money on this one. will probably buy a lower-end dishwasher since this was our first somewhat high end one and it didn't pan out too well.
