    Good value March 22, 2011

    I purchased this model (1389) for $476. It cleans very well, looks great in my kitchen and was easy to install. It is a little louder than I thought it would be, but it's still much better than my old GE. I'm going to buy some insulation and put it under the kick plate, that should make it sound like a $900 machine! Installation was easy, just don't buy the install kit from sears ($20), go to ***** and get the kit for $9.00 . I looked up the model code and Whirlpool makes this one , ***** has this same model in the whirlpool version for $619..... hope this helps......

    Kenmore24 SmartWash(1389) sounds like breaking plastic. March 14, 2011

    I just used my dishwasher for the first time. After washing dishes I opened the door and it sounds like breaking plastic at the base. I called for service and was tranferred to technical service 3 times, and then instalation services 4 times, then the call was disconnected and called talked with customer care. I spent an hour and fifteen minutes on call with service trying to get someone to help me. I was told sorry you are having problems 300 hundred times, told I would receive an email with a coupon for $10 dollars for being inconvenienced (the coupon was never sent), I was told that they would send a new dishwasher to be installed the next day between 8-10 (then when thery transferred me I found out the service person had no authority to make that decision and had just blown me off and transferred me to someone else.) Then I finally asked to speak with a supervisor and was sent to an account manager and after telling my whole story and that I spent $3500 on appliances and wanted to return all of them if this was the type of service I was going to get. She asked if I wanted them to send a repair man out. I told her that was what I called for more than an hour ago for. It took her two minutes to set that up. The whole reason I bought my appliances from Sears was because of their service. After tonight I may cancel my delivery of my other appliances and purchase from someone else.

    Even though this dishwasher is not what I began looking for, it's what I ended up with and I couldn't be happier. I have heard to stay away from computerized models and I will miss my old rotary dial (knob styled) pad to operate (b/c you could see where in the cycle you were so you could add items, change where in the cycle it was and you cannot do these things with a computerized set of keys). But, I do love this model. Originally, I did a lot of research and I wanted one that already had good customer reviews and my budget was $6-700 but this model had the good reviews and a much lower price tag (I'm thinkg that it is lower b/c it has a plastic interior instead of a stainless interior) but I just liked what people said about it. And, it looks just like one that costs twice as much on the outside. I thought that my last Kenmore dishwasher w/ a plastic interior was great and so far, 2 months in, this one works great too. The keypad is on top and it runs very quietly; dishes come out clean and I do use a rinse agent. I had my plumber install it instead of Sears b/c I needed an additional water line run behind it before putting the new one in the cabinetry. I was not replacing a broken dishwasher, just upgrading my appliances to stainless. The last Kenmore gave me 11 good years.

    We bought this dishwasher because of the look, the controls were at the top, and the bottom area was tall and deep. I read many reviews and compared many models and feel like we made a great choice. The dishwasher is very quiet, cleans great and the space between the bottom and top rack allows you to put big trays, cookie sheets and platters in, not the case with our old one. I would and have recommended this dishwasher to many of our friends that are building or remodeling.

    I got this Kenmore Elite dishwasher in the stainless steel finish. It looks great, and I really like the hidden controls on the top edge of the lid. I really like that it uses rinse aid and has a heated dry setting, my old dishwasher was not getting my plastics on the top rack or my silverware dry at all. This dishwasher seems quiet and I can't hear it running with the TV on in the next room. The tub offers a lot of room and the top rack has fold down tines to accomodate all types of glassware. The slotted trays that fit over the silverware rack are great too to ensure that all of my silverware gets clean. My dad helped with installation and it seemed very straightforward and went smoothly. So far I am very happy with this purchase!
