    Kenmore Elite Black 24" Built-In Dishwasher - 1392 in black May 09, 2011

    We have had the Kenmore Elite Black 24" Built-In Dishwasher - 1392 for about 2 weeks and so far so good. I originally was going to purchase a Bosch, but had my floors re-tiled and needed something a tad shorter to fit under the counter top. Normal vertical space is 34". My space is 33 7/8". The 1392 is 33 3/4" with wheels removed. Fit nicely. Make sure you are present for the installation if you have a similar situation. Our installer did not remove the wheels at first and tried to force the unit under the counter until I said something to him.

    The unit works fine. It replaced a 5 year old Kenmore and works at least as well if not better. We are happy with it. Buttons are sensitive as some have stated, but can easily be locked by pushing a button for 3 seconds. Also, though not that important to us, the unit is very quiet. Wait for a good sale we paid $549.

    If you are use to a white interior, the SS tub causes it to be a little darker inside. Not a big deal, but noticeable.

    Elite Service? Not anymore Kenmore! April 02, 2011

    Bought this dishwasher to replace the one I purchased 4 years earlier. First one the motor seized up and would have cost 400 to 500 to fix. This one worked great for 13 months. Then the buttons started popping off. Called Sears repair and found they knew about the problem and would replace the defective part but would cost a minium 129 dollar service call to install. This less than 30 days out of their warranty! Sears used to stand behind their appliances. My kitchen is totally Kenmore Elite as are all my major applicance. This experience will make me very likely to look elsewhere when purchasing my next appliance.

    We bought one about a month ago and when we first went to make a wash, it was so quite we thought that we didn't know how to turn it on. A wonderful piece of machinery. Just what a personneeds...dependable, cleans extremely well and is so quiet you dont know its on....

    My concern is with the flimsiness of the racks. Much thinner than my last Elite DW. the bottom rack keeps slippling off the track b/c the wheels are not aligned with the groove of the rack. Plastics don't dry well. I have leaned against the buttons and turned it on or off several times by accident. Too many bugs for a $700+ purchase. The good news is that I'm having it replaced with a different maodel and crossing my fingers that it will be better. This also happened with our stove and I am satisfied with the new one. Howerver, in both instances I have ended up losing value in the exchange as I switched to a less expensive model.

    I can't believe I was standing right in front of the dishwasher while it was running & didn't know it was on. It is so quiet I was amazed. I love the stainless steel interior & the racks are easy to adjust. My favorite is the front panel as I totally dislike the plastic buttons. This dishwasher you just gently touch the application you need & wala, it is lit & ready to go. My only negative on this product is a low buzzing noise during a cycle that I heard from another room. I thought it was someone's cell phone buzzing until I realized where it was coming from. Once i knew that, it was low enough to ignore.

    We just installed the Kenmore Elite 1392 this week and I can't believe how quiet it is! I had no idea it was running. Although the control panel is VERY touch-sensitive, there is a "control lock" button that you press to prevent it from starting up if you happen to brush up against the buttons. Overall, seems to be the perfect dishwasher!
