We love it! October 27, 2008
My husband and I just installed this dishwasher over the past weekend and have only used it a couple times, but it has worked excellent. We even put our glass turntable out of our microwave in it, which hasn't been cleaned in probably 6 months. Needless to say, it was pretty dirty and there was food caked on it. We didn't pre-rinse it or soak it and it came out sparkling clean! We were very impressed. We probably would've had to scrub it a lot if we washed it by hand. We actually didn't pre-rinse any of the dishes we put in and they all came out spotless. The dishwasher is also fairly quiet. This is our first dishwasher so we don't have anything to compare it to though. We have no complaints with the noise level. There is also a lot of room so you can fit a lot of dishes into it.

The circuit board/control panel has just quit, only three years old, and has not been used all three years due to the fact it is a second residence. It costs just for the part over $100, THEN THE SERVICE CALL. Saw that one person's service TECH broke one of the circuit board wires when he was installing the other part...six weeks later, the other part still isn't in, and the company can't tell them when. I have looked for their part, and it states online it is no longer available. I realize we are a throw away society..but really, almost 3 years to date of purchase, and only used for I would estimate 2 years. This technology is destined to fail, not only with Amana, but all the companies that they are in with, Maytag, Whirlpool, etc. Don't waste your money with this type of control panel, yet good luck finding something other then this type!

To start with something positive, this dishwasher does do a good job of getting the dishes clean. What I do not like about it is the design and depth of the racks. I cannot put two rows of dinner plates side by side (from front to back). It will fit a row of salad plates alongside a row of dinner plates. Our family of six uses more of the larger plates so we dirty more plates in a day than this dishwasher can hold in one load. If I have more than just plates to wash, once again, the depth very much limits what will fit. The top rack also accommodates fewer dishes than the dishwasher it replaced. It holds two rows of cups/glasses and a row of bowls. This depth issue means that I can fit one less cup per row. Over all, this fits seven fewer cups per load than what I had before. A lesser issue is that the tines of the rack are bent. This cradles plates and bowls nicely, but it can cause a problem when trying to load other items. My main concern when selecting this product was the quantity of dishes it would hold. The Amana website shows that it can fit 14 place settings. While I am sure this is true, be warned that unless you usually exclusively wash actual "place settings" do not be misled into thinking that this dishwasher can accommodate a lot of dishes. I have loaded many dishwashers in my life (at least 10), and I have never encountered one with such a limited actual capacity. For the price, this would be a good choice for a smaller family.
