pleasant surprise
I usually opt to purchase top of the line products, i.e. Kitchen Aid or Bosch. Budget constraints forced me to go to the lower end price zone for a new dishwasher. I purchased this washer and was suprised at its effciency and ability to get the job done. Don't waste your money on a high end product when this little giant gets the job done par excellant. I can't vouch for stainless steel VS plastic interiors, only that this unit is quiet and more than adequate for the purpose intended. Good job Kenmore!

Perhaps I am being unfair in evaluating this dishwasher because it actually is about what I expected it to be. First of all, let me say that the on-line buying experience and delivery and installation were exceptionally pleasant. Also, let me add that I was replacing a top of the line dishwasher that had expired from old age with this much less expensive dishwasher. Therefore, I did not expect much. I made this choice because we are moving in three months, and I wanted to put any money I could save toward an excellent dishwasher for the new place and replace the expired product with one good enough to sell. This dishwasher does indeed fill that purpose. The cleaning power reminds me of the entry-level dishwashers that I have dealt with in the past. If you wash the dishes or rinse them very thoroughly before they go in, they come out clean and dry. Bowls clean well on the top rack, but anything that is even slightly bowl-shaped, like one of those rectangular glass baking dishes, does not clean well standing on edge on the bottom. The racks have no adjustment, but because the washer is a tall tub, it does accomodate taller objects on the bottom.
The outside of the dishwasher looks great. However, I do not like the controls. First of all, on a black appliance, the white writing needs to be bold enough to be read easily. I find myself using a flashlight to get just the right angle. In addition, the touch buttons have to be pressed in exactly the right way to work properly. A slightly off-center touch and the dishwasher doesn't start.
In addition, the dishwasher just does not feel right. The door feels too light and does not close with a satisfactory thunk. The racks feel flimsy.
My recommendation--If you don't actually cook and just want something to clean plates and silverware, or if you are putting this appliance in a rental unit, this appliance would be a satisfactory choice. However, if you have a family and cook and need a dishwasher, wash by hand for a month or two and save up some more money and buy a more upscale model.

Quiet as a mouse!
Too overwhelmed with life right now to shop for a dishwasher to replace my 10 year old machine that sounds like it has rocks inside the motor. Went online, ordered within 10 minutes with a $35 discount from sears. Picked up in store and installed within a couple of hours. Bottom line-may not have all the bells and whistles of higher priced machines but it gets the job done. I can't believe how quiet it is compared to my old dishwasher. Happy as a **** so far!

Excellent Economy line dishwasher
Great for one to two person family. Ideal price for a little workhorse with no fancy bells or whistles. Medium noise level. User hint: Dishwasher has 'cancel/drain' feature. Manual will say to use this feature if you decide to cancel wash and run later. However, I found that after some loads ran, I had water standing. Pressed 'cancel/drain' and water drained out. Sometimes had to do it twice to get all the water out. Takes only couple of seconds. Have septic tank so I do rinse my dishes before I put in dishwasher. Has food filter in case I miss some particles.

We purchased this item less than 2 years ago, about a month ago dishes on top stopped getting clean, we realized that the top water sprayer was not turning, now the bottom isn't cleaning either, we were going to call for a repair, but decided that Kenmore just isn't cutting it any more, in the last ten years and less we have had to replace all our Kenmore products, in 2-5 years.

Order got messed up, wrong color. Sears delivered a correct color replacement and picked up the wrong unit, quickly and no hassle - even though they didn't deliver the first unit. Got it on sale! Runs quietly and cleans dishes very well. Happy camper.

Excellent value for the price
After having dishwashers with 5 different cycles and realizing I only used pots/pan and normal I thought why waste my money on things I never used. This dishwasher cleans both top and bottom racks flawlessly and the heated dry leaves them dry and spotless. The cycle does last about 2 hours but that is the norm for any energy star dishwasher on the market today. If you use the one hour cycle it still cleans and drys flawlessly but I've never been in a hurry to have my dishes cleaned so I just use the energy star feature in the other cycles.

Cleans both the top and bottom racks and very pleased with it's utensil cleaning. Much quieter than my previous 6 year old washer (but that's to be expected). I've only had this Kenmore for one month, but it has all of the features you need -- or in other words, all of the essential basics. If you need a dishwasher that'll also mow your lawn, look elsewhere.
