Looks good, but downdraft venting wasn't worth it.

Looks great and like the ease to clean.  But the downdraft system was very expensive to have installed -- venting alone ran nearly $1000; and doesn't really pull down much of the cooking vapors; some, just not much.  In hindsight, not sure if getting a downdraft system was worth it.

Poor quality. Difficult to maintain. old before it's time.
We've had ours for less than two years and are looking to replace it. Out of the box, it looked great, then I used it. The burners are inconsistent and cook unevenly. The downdraft vent takes away from power of the burners and it takes considerably longer to cook even if the vent is on low. Using the vent while cooking is a waste of time and energy so we don't use it while cooking so why have the vent? The surface is very difficult to clean. Every drop leaves a stain and most require a razor to remove them, including pasta water. The grills are just a horrible quality. The paint surface on the grills has been bubbling and chipping off after just 13 months of ownership. Our fairly new cooktop have taken on the appearance of a a very old unit in short time even after daily gentle cleaning. Bottom line, we should have purchased the stainless steel model in the first place because we will be replacing this with a stainless steel when we find one for a reasonable price.

I would not purchase this cook top again.

There are several reasons I only have 2 months ago and the frame is easily scratched. the grates are so difficult to clean. The control **** are plastic and is so close to the burns it damage quick because get over headed. This item look nice but is no good for the value. I know is not many choices but this is the worse. When the down draft is on it almost extinguishes the back flames. I would not purchase this cook top again.

probably the best of this type for the price

I replaced my 15 year old downdraft gas cooktop with this GE model. In addition to being very attractive, it has a responsive ignition and the flame is easy to control. I also appreciate that the surface is sealed, so spills can't drip down below the top where it's impossible to clean. I have noticed that running the fan on "high" is not a good idea since it's capable of pulling the flame out from under the burner. However, I haven't needed to use the fan on anything but the low setting. Everyone who sees my kitchen remarks on what a beautiful cooktop it is. If you want grill burners you can't buy this, you have to get the more expensive modular style, but I think, for the price, it's the best gas cooktop available.

Love cooking with gas

Replaced an electric Jenn-Air cook top with this, and loved the results. However, had I done further research in finding out what a nightmare it is keeping it clean, I may have had second thoughts. Very difficult to clean after use !!!!!

Terrible for cleaning

We have the black glass cooktop. It is absolutely awful to clean. I cannot imagine this was tested by a woman before it was put on the market or she would have pointed out this flaw. On the days I have time, it may take me 15 to 20 minutes to clean the darn cooktop. The streaking is terrible. The knobs have gaskets around them that always get pushed down into the hole where the knob fits and I have to get tweezers to get them back out and into place. As a full time employed mother and wife, I definitely do not have time to do that much cleaning. Had I known we would not have purchased this model. It heats and cooks fine.

Gas Cooktop

This cook top looks great and is very easy to use. The blower is a little loud but not extremely so. The glass top is very easy to clean as are the removable grates.

Modern wonderful CookTop

This CookTop has very even heat and is quick to start. The Upscale Glass top gives off a very shiny look and is very easy to clean using the right products. There is a rubber ring below the knobs that needs to be installed properly but could be made thicker so the Cooktop won't stick when the heat is on. This is one of the best Downdraft cooktops I have had and would recommend it to others.

Difficult to Keep Clean and Auto Ignition is Awful

I do not like that when one knob is turned to auto ignition, all 4 auto ignitators are going off. It is unnerving and a waste of energy. This cooktop was touted as easy to clean, but it shows every drop of water and has to be carefully cleaned, dried and shined after every use. It is not easy to clean in any way.

ITS IN THE DETAILS

We did a complete remake of our kitchen and we were intially impressed by the looks and the reputation of the GE brand. We were disappointed by the cheap look and feel of the rotary knobs on this product ; stainless steel knobs would have given the cooktop an enhanced look of quality. We hope that this will help GE improve on this product. Lose the plastic knobs at this level!
