Each double-ring round element has two distinct sizes, so you can choose which to use based on cookware size. 

  • This cooktop features a ceramic glass surface and edges without crevices and cracks, so its easy to clean spills.
  • The 7 in. warming zone allows you to keep cooked foods warm until you are ready to serve them.
  • Minimize smoke and cooking odors. The downdraft ventilation system includes a three-speed fan and captures smoke, steam, and odors to keep your kitchen fresh and clean.
  • The hot surface indicator lights show when an area of the cooktop is hot, even if the cooktop has been turned off.

    Too many problems,Kitchen Aid will REPAIR not replace,Poor customer service from Kitchen Aid

    Do not purchase this cooktop! It looks clean, easy to use and has a downdraft feature, but in the 6 months that we have owned it--we have had more issues with it. After waiting six weeks for it to arrive, we had our first issue with the cooktop a few months later. The smaller of the dual burners stopped working. After contacting Sears, a technician came out to replace the burner element on the smaller burner. The day after Christmas, as I was cleaning the cooktop, I noticed a hairline crack that ran the length of the unit-- starting at the same burner that was recently repaired...coincidence? I immediately called Sears who told me that I needed to contact Kitchen Aid now because the warranty is through them (buy the warranty through Sears!). Kitchen Aid sent a company out to inspect the unit (2nd time now) -- the cooktop glass needs to be replaced now. Kitchen Aid refused to replace the entire unit...even though it was the second time the unit needed to be serviced. In fact, their policy is to repair -- not replace, apparently "defective" is not a word their vocabulary. Oh and I am not supposed to use the cooktop until the glass is replaced...which could be 2 -3 weeks...they don't have the replacement glass in stock. After speaking with the customer service representative at Kitchen Aid and his manager...I barely got anywhere - for my inconvenience, they are willing to extend my warranty for another year-- big deal! Of course they do not take into effect the 3 days I needed to take (and will need to take) off of work to let the repairmen fix this unit. I don't even want this unit now -- too many problems. Save yourself this headache...buy from a company that cares about its products and its customers.
