Kenmore Elite  36'' Downdraft Gas Cooktop, Stainless Steel

My experience with Kenmore has always been a good one. However, the grates, on my less than 1 year old cooktop, are flaking constantly. I could've chosen a more expensive brand but felt confident in choosing a product from Kenmore. The flaked areas are all showing tiny rusty spots. I am not sure how to handle this issue. I have contacted Kenmore and will see how they choose to resolve the problem. Very disappointing purchase.

Went from a 30" Electric Jenn-Air to this 36" downdraft cook top. Installed in Dec 2012. The down draft works just fine, does pull the side flames just a bit but you would do that with any down draft. Not very many Manafactures that make a down draft gas any more. This was the least expensive after many weeks of searching.

We had a heck of a time with Sears installers. After 2 weeks, I hired a local contractor, Island Comfort on St. Simons Island, Ga. The unit is very nice, better than we expected. The local Sears store in Brunswick adjusted the price due to problems with their installer. Overall, we are very pleased with the unit and more so, with their understanding and adjustments they made. I would recommend this unit without hesitations

We purchased this cooktop with other Kenmore Elite appliances for our new home. Cooking is major thing for my wife. She always wanted a nice big cooktop. The cooktop is nice only problem is with the burners. The burners seems to have less flumes.(take more time to cook). The biggest burner stopped working after couple days. called and setup an tech appointment. Tech guy never came or called. I called next day and found out that someone( not us) called and reschedulethe appointment with our another service appointment for our refrigerator. so convenient  for them not us. This is the third time had experience with bad service.

I had an LP Conversion issue with mine and a faulty valve. Sears would not fix the LP problem (missing orofice). They will install it but leave it natural gas and you have to find someone to do the conversion. My contractor did initially but ran into adjustment problems and a missing orofice. It took 2 trips out by SEARS and they still didn't identify a faulty valve. That was diagnosed by an independent. I spent 3 weeks calling SEARS to get the parts. They initially agreed to send and I didn't receive them and went through 2 hours on the phone with 7 people before finding out that since SEARS wasn't scheduled to replace the part they canceled the order and never notified me. Finally got the one part ordered and they had to find the other from another source. Once both were in the house they agreed to service tech coming out to replace the valve. Then the independent installed the orofice. It cost me 90.00 out of pocket since SEARS wouldn't cover LP conversion under warranty. Be prepared to have someone else install and or convert the unit. Bottom line now that it works...I love it. Great grill features, love the bridge for larger pans and the turbo boil feature is great. Much better than Jennair. I doubt I'd buy another SEARS product that had to be converted after this experience. It really turned me off on their service.

  This cook top is much better than any other Gas downdraft cook tops (Very few choices-Jenn Air) in 36 inch. It is good with downdraft suction, BTU looks and cleaning is easy. Especially it won?t suck in flame like Jenn-Air.It is every efficient down draft. I had bad experience with jenn-air 30 inch gas downdraft (The new one that comes in both 30 and 36 inch) that was sucking in flame along with Odors. I replace it with this one and no regrets since then. I would definitely recommend this if you are OK with 36 inch. Good luck
