After installation we had to have one burner replaced as it stopped lighting. The black surface shows everything and it does not come clean...baked on deposits do not come clean. Otherwise it works fine and I like the 5 burners.

We got this cooktop when we updated our countertops and couldn't be happier. The cooktop looks beautiful and works great. I like the power burner being in the front and the simmer burner in the back. Cleans up nicely.

Ive had this for 8 months now & i love it. The grates are sturdy heavy & easy to clean. I have 2 cons to consider when you purchase. 1) The paint on the knobs are already wearing off and 2) The burner for normal heating cook time is located in the center far back of the range, making it a tad inconvenient. The front two are a rapid boil which and the other is a dual ring flame, which typically goes to only 1 flame even though it starts off at 2 flames so this can make your cook time slower & a bit uneven if you have a time line. Other than that & getting used to it it is a good gas efficient appliance

We upgraded to this cooktop. These are the things about this product we love: Deep recessed top, lots of power and the stainless top. Some of the coating did flake off one of our grates but this is not a big deal.

This stove was installed in a new home we purchased approximately 18 months ago. During this time period the stove seemed to work fine until this week when we noticed electrical arcing around one of the burners. We quickly unplugged the unit to remove electrical power. We cleaned the burner and plugged the unit back in and all appeared well. Then as my wife was wiping off the stove after use with a damp wash cloth she recieved an electrical shock from the stove. Clearly the electric ignition has shorted and is electrifying the entire unit. This is a huge safety hazard. Not only do I recommend that no one purchase this item, but I recommend that Sears quit selling the item.

Wow, I read the reviews before purchasing and decided to be careful re cleaning, chipping etc. Well, this unit has exceeded my expectations! It is very high end in appearance and performance! Nothing is chipping or wearing off. We use it daily and love it! I highly recommend this product. No etching,no problem with the lettering, very even heat. One more thing, the picture on the Sears site makes it look like the knobs have white on them in the stainless model. They do not, they are black and stainless color. It is now 6 months old and looks like new!

I have only been using my Gas Cooktop for four months and have only one complaint... The etching is coming off. I completely lost the MED and Power Burner is now starting to come off. I'm losing another D on another MED. I very gently clean it with a Mircofiber towel and even bought the Elco Stainless Steel Cleaner after using and loving the sample that they provided when purchased. I noticed right away that it does scratch easily and I take great care when cleaning it. That's why I am slightly disappointed with the lettering comiearng off in such a short amount of time. It does have a great look in my remodled kitchen. The handles are nice, large and durable. I love having the 5 burners. I don't have any problems with the grates. **Update Sears replaced the cook top with a new one they said it has a year warranty. I was very impressed I called thinking they could somehow fix the etching but the service man said "ok we'll order you a new one" then came back in a week & a half to install. I've been using the new one for about 2 mos with no problems.

This stove top came with everything needed to install excluding the gas line that goes from the stove to the wall gas valve. It was easy to install and had it operating in about 20 minutes. It is a well built unit and does not have all the really none essentials items added to the stove. In another words this is a clean, nice looking stove top.

I really loved this cooktop until the black porcelain coating on the grate cracked and then chipped off to expose the iron underneath (which is gray not black). We have only used the cooktop 3 months and I have been told by Sears that this is a cosmetic problem and not covered under the warranty. Seems that you would get years of use before something like this needed to be replaced. Clearly, it is defective.  Our cooktop sits right in the island that is also our eating area. The chipped grate is very apparent to everyone who is sitting in our kitchen.  Sears should replace these grates if it happens in the warranty period. I wouldn't recomend anyone to purchase this unless you are prepared to purchase new grates right away!
